I tried sugar in popcorn for the first time in Asmara! Never went back to salt lol This video reminded me of my cousin back home! She wasn’t very “domestic” lol but one day her boyfriend came over to our grandparents’ house and he brought a bunch of friends with him. My cousin had to make everyone coffee but wasn’t prepared to make it for such a large group of ppl 😭 she ran out of boon by the time she started pouring in the third “fnjal” lmao and this kept happening throughout every round of boon!!! She was soooo embarrassed. The guys who didn’t receive a cup of boon assured her that it tasted good anyway 😂😂😂 She got engaged last month so all’s well that ends well 😂♥️ ur videos always spark a nice memory for me & I so appreciate that! it is good u provided this video. i appreciate it for that it promotes our coffee ceremony. But the video shows only one of the many kind of coffee ceremonies in Ethiopia. This video represents only the coffee ceremony of the Tigrean nationalities. The coffee bean is not only roasted in "menkeshkesh" as shown in this video. it is also roasted on traditional roaster called "biremitad" in other nationalities. "Meshirefet" is used by the tigrean (as shown in the video); not by any other nationalities in Ethiopia. Third the traditional pot ("jebena") shown in the video is used by the tigrean only. This model is not the only model of "jebena" in Ethiopia. The tigreans use the mouth opening to pour the coffee powder into the jebena and to pour the boiled coffee into the cups. But other nationalities pour the coffee through other opening at a side of the jebena. There are other points to be raised. In general when we present things in Ethiopia name, please lets give full representation. we should not be racist. U know our internal attitude is exposed in such cases. Nationalists make their presentation on cultural and traditional matters representative.
