Same recipe I learned from my Grandmother In-law over 40 years ago. Except she used white sugar in addition to brown sugar instead of honey. She also added a 1/2 cup of liquor (special ingredient) that made them extra delicious and unforgettable. The pan was cleaned every holiday! Not a spoon full left:)

I made these for Thanksgiving this year. EVERYONE loved them. I will never make any other recipe for sweet potatoes again. Many thought they would miss the "casserole" sweet potatoes, but had never had real candied sweet potatoes. I use the same ingredients, but I first peel the sweet potatoes, cut them up, then boil them. I add all the ingredients on top. They will all melt down into the potatoes. I also add mini marshmallows on top, put it in the oven until the marshmallows are melted. Thank you for posting. Great video.

I want to thank you for giving of yourself to learn young people how to cook! It is amazing to me how many young folk do not know how to cook. The past couple of generations are lost when it came to learning how to cook. I came up on all fresh veggies and we had a balance meal. It might not had been fancy, but it was tasty and filling. My son's generation was a really first time product of these fast food places. But I made sure that he ate a well balance meal, not fast foods everyday. Once again, young people, I am proud of you for wanting to learn how to cook. Your children deserve a healthy start in life. I dont add the butter, corn syrup and honey. To replace that we put lil bit water and regular sugar and everything else. But mine still taste so good. And i dont boil it we just peel and cut it when its hard, put the ingredients and put it in the oven and it comes out delicious

Family just a reminder yams and sweet potatoes are not the same. The dish looks delicious. I add the juice of one fresh lemon, one fresh orange to my sauce. Last 5-10 minutes of baking I top with walnuts and marsh mallows.

@PhillyboyJayCooking I made your Candied Yams last Sunday for a gathering of friends (i also made my famous collard greens & cabbage with smoked turkey) and my dishes were the only dishes that were empty...absolutely no leftovers! The only thing I did different was baked the sweet potatoes instead of boiling them. They loved them so much!!! When I tell u, everybody had to ask how I made them.
