How to Make CC in The Sims 4? | Easy & Simple Custom Content Tutorial for Beginners

Ever wondered how all these amazing creators make their own clothes in The Sims 4? Well, this is the first video in the potential series of Simple Custom Content Tutorials. Potential as I have to see if there is an audience for this type of content. In this video, I am covering the bases - from software that you will need to simple exercises such as changing the color of CAS (Create a Sim) items.

I'm a complete newbie when it comes to custom content for sims. I didn't want to start messing with blender or doing other complicated things right out of the gate. So this tutorial seemed like a perfect starting point. I'm pretty good at manipulating images with photo editing software. I should be able to do quite a bit with that alone. It drives me nuts that the selection of outfits on sims is so terrible. They have some pretty good basic designs but they usually mess them up with weird patterns and no consistent color palette. It makes it extremely difficult to mix and match tops and bottoms, etc. I would like to take one of each of their tops and bottoms in a solid color and create it in several basic colors. The same colors in each case rather than some weird random mess of colors that don't go well together. And maybe it would nice for the men to actually have a few usable outfits. Dare I dream it?

Agreed. While CC is amazing for that, it still feels like basics should be in game naturally and weird patterns should be added and not vice versa. I don't understand that logic. It's gotten better, but, in the early days, patterns and colors were REALLY strange. Btw. did you make any CC? How'd go?

@@simsina I did a little. The one tank top was a good design, but it didn't come in any good solid colors aside from black. So, I took the black version, made a white version, and then made several other colors from that. And I still use it in my game from time to time. Especially the white version. But it would be better if I sat down and figured out a standard color palette that would work for everything and to create cc for a number of different outfits, etc. There are a lot of pretty usable pieces if they were colored decently. I also found some CC online that I added. A good hairstyle for black women, etc.

That's one part of it. Easy, isn't it? That's why people get mad when EA uses recolored objects for new packs. If I can do it, they better stop doing that lol

@@simsina I would be willing to spend money on a recolored pack if it actually had good colors. That would be a huge selling point for them. The no weird patterns and ugly colors pack. Just give it that name, and you already have one customer.

Hey! Do you mean design a totally new shape of the item?? That would require some 3D modeling. It's a whole different ball game. I'd suggest looking into Blender tutorials if you're up for the task. I can always make a tutorial if you'd like? But, this will be a bit harder than recoloring/retexturing.

It should work regardless of the pack or cc. There must be another reason for clipping.

Hi, you're fine! Is it CC you downloaded online? If so, you can access it when you first open studio, on the side where it says "my projects". Just make sure the original creator allows this. I hope this helps ❤️

That's a whole different ball game. You'll need a 3D software like Blender. I can make a tutorial and try to make it as simple as possible if you'd like?? Although, it'll still be a bit harder than textures and recoloring.

Yes, there is. It should work exactly the same, you can sort by CC while searching for the item. I would just be careful if custom content creators allow recoloring of their content.

Hi! It should be safe, my computer told me that, too bc studio needs to access files which computer might see as a threat. If you want to be more informed and safe, you can look up their website. They update it regularly and people are pretty helpful. FYI, I'm not associated with them at all, I just use their software and I'm satisfied. I hope this helped a bit.

you don't open package files in gimp, you open them in Sims 4 Studio. In the Sims 4 Studio, you export the image file (.png) that you can than open in GIMP and edit.
