How to make re-usable diaper liners out of Walmart fleece blankets. These are the $2.50 blankets that are stored in huge bins near the home area of the store. They have a ton of cute prints and make the PERFECT diaper liner.
A diaper liner helps to keep the poo away from you, and provides a moisture wicking barrier so your child's bum doesn't sit in the wet, and has a stay dry feeling with wet diapers.
I personally throw them away with a huge mess, but you certainly don't have to. Most of the time its easy enough to just spray them off and wash and re-use! They are super fast, easy and affordable. and cute!

Oh my God. I am glad I came across your page. Initially, it is because I am new to nursing school. While looking at your playlists....I noticed cloth diapering. I am 7 months pregnant. And have been researching the logistics. Thank you for multiple aspects

I heard the prices went up for these blankets, so I picked one up in a thrift store. It was brown, so perfect for poopy diapers. LOL

Would you recommend using a liner over flour sack towels with a cover or pocket diaper?
@NurseLiz
@NurseLiz 4 жыл бұрын
You don't need to since flour sack towels are cotton. But you could if you wanted to catch some poop, or were going to be using a diaper cream that isn't cloth diaper friendly

How many layers do you put in a nappy? I am planning to put it on top of bamboo inserts... but not sure if one layer would be enough or two layers?

These are not for absorbing things! Just as a barrier
@barb4250

This is polyester fleece. Not as quick absorbing as micro fleece. I was sooo all on this and about to buy a mainstays fleece blanket but did some research. With polyester fleece liquid kind of repels :(
@thomasreedy4751
@thomasreedy4751 2 жыл бұрын
Maybe research wicking fleece? If you wash it in hot water enough times liquid passes through.

Hi Nurse Liz. I like the video, very simple to follow. I would like to know the dimensions of the liner? You did say 6 inches wide but I did not hear the length, if you said it. Please let me know? Seems no one can ever tell me the size haha

Hi may I ask what do you call that cutter that u used to cut the fleece blanket and the ruler you used and where you buy them. I'm a momma to be it would be a big help if I used fleece blanket instead of buying expensive insert.
@NurseLiz
@NurseLiz 4 жыл бұрын
It's just a rotary cutter! But you can't use these as inserts, just as liners to sit on top of inserts!

At what point do you implement these into your routine? I def see it as a benifit with rinsing diapers vs just the liner
@NurseLiz
@NurseLiz 5 жыл бұрын
I used them a lot for daycare, when she may poop and it would then sit in the diaper for hours since they obviously don’t spray them off there. It helped it be less stuck. And when I needed to use not cloth diaper safe butt cream!

Liz, Is the fleece a good breathable option for baby bottom? If not is there a best fabric option? thanks! Love your videos
@NurseLiz
@NurseLiz 3 жыл бұрын
It's not very breathable unfortunately. Most things that are breathable are also also absorbent, or disposable. We did have some luck with the grovia disposable liners at one point though! Those are breathable

Since the tag on the blanket says to wash cold, just wondering if you still wash the liners on hot with your diapers or what you found works best. Do you have to wash separate?? Thanks!

Hi. If they don’t absorb then how does the diaper not leak?
@NurseLiz
@NurseLiz 3 жыл бұрын
Even though the fleece isn't absorbent, there should be an absorbent material below that. The fleece just acts as a barrier between the absorbent layer and the booty.

Question for you! Do you think you could use these blankets for cloth wipes? They’re just so cheap! But not sure if they’d work for wipes.
@NurseLiz
@NurseLiz 4 жыл бұрын
My only hesitation would be that they don’t absorb water well so that may be an issue.

I've always used flushable liners just because when my little has a rash and I need to put diaper rash cream on her I didn't want to waste a fleece liner. Do you just throw the fleece liners with diaper rash cream on them in the wash with your regular diapers? I love the idea of not having to use flushable liners (they're not that expensive but they add up) but have always been intimidated. I also heard that fleece sometimes naturally repels and well obviously you don't want that lol. Have you used these long? What's your experience with them?
@NurseLiz
@NurseLiz 6 жыл бұрын
Melissa Frick if I’m using a non cloth diaper safe cream (and it’s a pee diaper) then I rinse them out and scrub them with dawn dish soap. That gets the petroleum out, which is what you can’t get on your diapers. Then I just toss them in the wash with the rest of the diapers! I’ve been using them for 4 months now with a lot of success!

That's awesome! I'll have to try them! I use the extra strength butt paste as my 1yr old is eating solids and well.... Rashes come with the territory and the butt paste is the only thing that works with her when she gets a rash. Definitely trying this with a Walmart blanket or maybe some fleece from joanns if I feel really crafty lol

Isn't fleece microfiber? I was under the impression microfibers shouldn't touch baby's skin.
@NurseLiz
@NurseLiz 6 жыл бұрын
Audrey Reynolds they’re different! The blankets are made of micro fleece so it’s definitely easy to get them confused. But fleece is fine! It’s a good barrier because unlike microfiber, it doesn’t try to draw out moisture from everything it touches. That’s why microfiber is a no go, because it dries out Babies bum too much. But it’s also why it’s a super quick absorbing insert, because it soaks everything right up. Fleece just kinda.. chills and lets stuff flow through.

Dewy Noodle I’m honestly not sure! Maybe about 12 inches? I just kinda folded it like I did in the video and then made sure that was long enough for the diapers. You can measure how long yours are and make them from that if a number would be helpful. Sorry I don’t have any with me (moving) or id go measure!
