This is a drink that takes a long time to make. Cherry Bounce will definitely put a bounce in your step.

I let my cherries with sugar sit in back of the fridge for almost a year. Why? Because my wife put them there and forgot about them! I then topped them up with 95 proof Everclear, just a small sliver of cinnamon stick (cinnamon can be too overpowering) and two cloves. Again I stored them for another 3 months in a slightly cool and dark place. When 3 months was up and because I used Everclear I had to add some simple syrup…which was 1/2 amount of water (example: 1ltr of alcohol=1/2 litre of water, and 1/2 cup honey. Honey is about twice the denseness of sugar) and let them sit for another 3 months stirring the jar almost daily. Time to taste…I couldn’t believe how absolutely DELICIOUS it was! You ladies are bang on! The longer it sits the better t becomes! The deep taste of the cherries with a hint of cinnamon and richness of honey is so delicious that I have another batch of cherries with honey started in the fridge.

🍒Cherries (Bing) are a top 3 favorite fruit just behind pears and peaches. Love fresh cherries, cherry cakes, pies, tarts, ice cream...I even smash whole cherries and put them in my peanut butter sandwiches! Never tried this but since I’m a bourbon guy, I know I would love it. Fun episode.

I'm going to try smashing fresh cerries on a peanut butter sandwich! I wonder what smashing these Bounce cherries on a pb sandwich would be like? Drunken PB...?

Worth mentioning Martha Washington 's recipe is the foundation for how we know about Cherry Bounce. Also, she recommended adding spices such as cinnamon and nutmeg, and an aged brandy. Brandy was the dominant spirit in America prior to whiskey, it was mostly made in the country. Washington owned a distillery which made both whiskey and brandies (seasonally).

I have made this in the previous 2 years and i love it! I originally saw the recipe from the Outlander cookbook. I loved the bourbon version when i made it. i also made a version with dark rum and vanilla flavored alcohol and it was super yummy!

If you pit the cherries, you can use them to make drunken chocolate covered cherries!

@@travelmom3031 that sounds so good! I was wondering if it would be a nice addition to hot tea. You might like the sugar and spice version too.

Could you tell me more about this? I have wild cherry trees and just took my first stab at making liqueur with them this year. Used vodka and fruit, aged a few months, then removed the cherries. Any tips or info would be greatly appreciated

Looks wonderful and it is such an easy recipe. I like that you can flavor it with additional spices. What a great idea to give it as a gift! My mother used to make something similar with sour cherries, sugar and vodka. The “drunken” cherries were always good on ice cream. 😊

Putting the cherries on ice cream sounds just perfect! I'd drizzle a little bounce on it too.

The best cherries are found going to Michigan in July. Also a lot of cherry wine, which most are sweet and a favorite in this house

I look forward to my Friday cocktails with Jocelyn. I just wish this had come out when cherries were in season. Now I have to wait at least another year to enjoy. 😭

Hey don't you have to pit them first due to arsenic in the pit?
@jbthecook
@jbthecook Жыл бұрын
No not really ya just have to worry about the arsenic and cyanide when you apply heat or grind em up. Martha Washington's recipe had cherry pits in it. Soo yeah, I don't know I've never heard of people having issues and I've never had issues with the pits this way.
