Theming Cinnamon is just superior IMO. Gnome doesn't let you theme all apps for no reason, on KDE theming is unnecessarily complicated and on Cinnamon it's just perfect. Drag your stuff into icons or themes and apply it to one of the four categories. No hassle, no PhD needed, just works.
@MichaelNROH5 күн бұрын
Cinnnamon still uses more GTK3 apps, which is why it works so well. GNOME is still mid-transitition to GTK4, which is themed differently and still has a lot of changes due to its delevlopment. At some point it's probably gonna be the same

I really liked the video and discovered some interesting Applets, but as a Mint/Cinnamon lover that also thinks it looks WAY too old by default I found a quick way to make it look more modern without changing so much stuff. Simply choose the "Mint-Y-Light-Dark" theme, then the "Papirus-Dark" icons (HUGE boost in terms of freshness, and both included in the default Mint Cinnamon installation), move the Start menu and docked programs to the center (like in Windows 11) and with the right greyscale wallpaper the OS looks 10 years younger with settings you can change in less than a minute! Not taking anything away from your video of course, I love theming and this one you showed came out really nice, just wanted to add something super quick I do to my Mint computers that I want to keep close to stock without looking like Windows '98 :)

For me having start on center is the stranges idea that M$ ever got.
@agoniavr5 күн бұрын
@@DevJeremi well, it's a matter of preference but I can totally see why you think that. It was the same for me when I used only Windows and first experienced that change, as I always swore by the bottom left positioning of the Start button and menu since Windows '98. My preferences changed when I got Windows 11 as soon as it got released, then I added a M1 Mac Mini to my setup and I started using Fedora/GNOME more and more. I got back to Mint from Fedora since then, but at that point it was the only DE where my menu was on the bottom left by default and it kinda felt both odd and outdated to me, which is why I moved it to the center.

I love themes made by LinuxMint team, the only changes I made it only one panel on top with grupping windows at center and Cinnamenu instead of build one menu. For themes I use Faded-Dream theme on panel to make it transparent, Mint- L-Dark-Blue Gtk to match it and Mint-Y-Sand for Icons.
