As a Filipino born in 1996, I remember driving the streets of Tokyo in the 80s, particularly through Akiba. I also remember having to drive through a Yakuza wаr. They didn't shооt my car, fortunately, but I would forever vividly remember that moment whenever I play GTA.

I am sorry. You need to live in the Japan of 80s, where the country was in the best moment of its economy, you need the atmosphere of a society of young adults who received exorbitant salaries and young couples being able to afford the buying of big houses, so the night in the city was the time to enjoy that happiness that will never repeat. And the music of that happiness, that sensation of "we don't need to think about the future because the present is already perfect" was the city pop. This music had a heart, a deep meaning inside. Can't be just copy today.

@@MichaelSotoCESome of the 80’s albums get close to City Pop, yes still with a more technical leaning, jazz fusion style. But you can’t tell me Santigo Bay, Sail On Fire and many more great 80’s Takanaka tracks don’t lean into the vibes and production of City Pop.
