It's in the Soapy Maths section of the video. Her mold holds 91% of the original recipe amount, so all ingredients were multiplied by 91%. If your mold holds 50% of the original recipe amount, you multiply the ingredients by 50%, which would be 200g salt and 5g clay.

Hi Lisa! Thank you so much for all your explanations, you are such a good teacher :-) I am just concerned if I discount the 15 gr of water to mix with the clay, this won't be enough water to dissolve with the lye? Thank you!

Hi Lisa, a great video once again. I made some salt bars but they were soft, I think I didn't mix them enough. It has been a few months now and they are still soft. Question: can I rebatch them or shred them and add to new batter?
@IDreamInSoap3 жыл бұрын
Hmm are you sure your quantities are correct? that would be my only concern. Did all the salt sink to the bottom, if it didn't then that would imply that they were mixed enough but maybe a quantity was wrong. I've never seen anyone rebatch salt bars, I guess you could, but you'd need to be happy that the contents were OK 1st

Thank you so much for this video. I watch it every time I'm going to make a salt soap! Can I ask, how did you manage to get the cat embed to survive when cutting the soap loaf? Just confused about the timings, considering how quickly the loaf needs to be cut, surely the cat will have become a solid block since it will need to have been made a little way in advance?
@IDreamInSoap3 жыл бұрын
Hi Jan, aw so pleased you find it useful. It's quite precise timings with eth embed. I make the cats and then unmould very carefully after about 1.5hours, at that point I am ready with everything prepared to make the main soap. I pop the embed in the mould and quickly make the surrounding mould. I then cut the whole lot after about 2 - 2.5 hours, so far the cats have always been ok.
@janlee-buxton8573 жыл бұрын
@@IDreamInSoap Lisa, thank you for the advice. On the back of that, I wondered if putting the embed in the freezer would work and also make it easier to unmould? I know salt can delay freezing, though, so maybe not putting salt in the embed portion would be ok, and therefore adding the embed's portion of salt to the rest of the soap?

I have a question. With salt bars. Whats the benefits. I made some a few months ago and oh my gosh, its the best soap ive ever made. It stays hard and the soap has loads of bubbles and when put back in the soap dish hardens and dries super fast. But i just wanted to know whats the other benefits other than what ive mentioned above. The only negative thing ive found is that after a few months ( as mine dry in the cupboard) they seem to sweat. Is that normal. Im worried about the soap wetting once ive wrapped them. Any advice.💜💜💜
@IDreamInSoap3 жыл бұрын
Hi Tanya, I never really like to discuss benefits as legally that's a no-no, also with soap being a wash off product any actual benefit from anything is unlikely to have an effect, therefore if people make claims about their soaps they are unlikely to be true. The salt bars are wonderful for all the reasons you say. I must admit I never have the moisture or sweating, I think it's due to a humid environment. I know some people use a dehumidifier if they live in a humid area.

Seems to me to be just another administrative exercise in ‘extortionate’ Hell for soap makers. More regulatory Control. Thankfully I don’t reside in the UK, nor sell my soaps…despite many requests. Yet, I do find it interesting that those self same Regulations do nothing to prevent the unnecessary use of neurotoxic Additives that are rife through the Soapmaking world…if the many You Tubers’ usage is any indication. And then there’s the Group 2B classified carcinogen Titatium Dioxide….

I understand this uses clays. If you were using charcoal would you mix with water a few hours earlier in the same way?
@IDreamInSoap3 жыл бұрын
Hi Gary, you can do. I always have my activated charcoal dispersed in a light weight oil, the same as my TD. So I have a bottle of it ready to go. AC doesn't tend to suck up moisture like the clays do, but it's definitely worth dispersing it first (even if just before you add to your batter) as it can speckle in your soap and will require quite a bit of mixing if you add it in dry, which with salt bars and the speed the batter thickens may not give you enough time to get it mixed properly.

Hi I have just started making soap and was wondering if you knew of any good fragrance suppliers as I’m also from the UK……. Your soaps are absolutely gorgeous you make it look so easy. Beautiful work
@IDreamInSoap Жыл бұрын
Hi, I typically say where I get my fragrances from in my videos. We do have some good suppliers in the UK, but you still need to buy small amounts 1st and test in your soap recipe as all fragrances behave differently, so you can't just presume that fragrances from one place will all work well. Also if you're looking to sell your soap in the future you need to makes sure your supplier xan provide all the necessary documents for your records otherwise your soaps will not pass assessment and you won't be allowed to sell them.Some places I use regularly are Candleshack, craftovator, Scents soaps and candles, Sensory Perfection. Supplies for candles, Gracefruit. Sell the Smells. I hope this helps

Hi Lisa, thank you for sharing! Today I will try this recipe with some kelp powder. I already measured out everything, just waiting for the lye solution to cool down.

Hello Lisa! Love your videos and have learned so much with you. Awesome content!! I`m ansking for your help because I made two batches of salt soap in cold process and made the big mistake of cutting them too much time after. The inevitable happened, and they all crumbled. So, is there any way that I can still use all of that soap? What do you suggest? Maybe rebatching it? And if so, how may I do that? Thank you in advance! Best regards, from Portugal!!

How long would this salt soap take to cure please?
@IDreamInSoap3 жыл бұрын
Typically it will be about 4 week, I always cure all my soaps for a minimum of 6 weeks

@@IDreamInSoap I realized I forgot to put the castor oil in 😭 will it still be ok as far as bubbles go? It came out of the molds fine and it looks great! Would this recipe minus the salt also be for swirls?

is there a reason to cut them soon after and not wait to cure?

Yes. They will get too hard to cut if you leave them more than a couple of hours
