Great invention but I got anxiety a little when you cut the cardboard directly on the wood floor! 😂

When my dad and I needed to make fenders for a race car, we had to make sure both sides looked the same. We made a 3ft one with 1x4s and small dials. we bolted them down every have foot and it worked great. just something out there if you need something to a larger scale.

Amazing, Brilliant, Awesome! ALL those adjectives! I'm building a model railroad, and needed a ledge to go around one of the mountains and could NOT figure out how to do it. Was going to Home Depot and pay 12 bucks for a gauge, did a You Tube search and there you were! Thank you so friggin' much!
@gig9705 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Unlike the one in Home Depot you can use it in any direction even if you need to gauge around non-flat surface, you just need to rap the cardboard around the surface and follow the pattern. it can be bent for odd surfaces but the one in Home Depot is rigid and can not ;-)
@digdeeper31233 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for this post! Was just searching the web for an extra deep contour gauge, and so disappointed that apparently the deepest gauge available only goes up to 3.5" depth. Glad I checked YT for ideas. You've inspired me to build something extremely similar, if not exactly the same. You deserve a like!

I bought it $1from Dollar-shop,,,, but this video is just to say that you can make your own tools with the regular stuff around you whenever you don't have access to a complete toolbox, beside if you have a curvature surface you can use this one with cardboard made, but surely not with the one that you buy with solid/ rigid body. I don't care what kind of project you are doing or what your budget is, folks, IT IS NOT WORTH IT so skim $8, get a very good and reliable one on Amazon!
@gig9703 жыл бұрын
I didn't push anyone to make their own, it was just an idea, it seems not slick as the one on Amazon but believe it or not I have done my whole project with the one you saw on my video,, beside I tried to show that you can get the profile even with vertical surface unlike the one you buy is rigid hard with about 1 inches on each side, mine is way accurate.. also you can get a better profile on curvy surfacs,, after all it's built by cardboard.. Sometimes it's good to be creative somehow other than being a topical consumer and pile up our shelves with so many unwanted product which you may use once in a blue moon. Thank you very much for your comment, and thanks for watching ;-)
