It's so hard to find good furniture, especially furniture that fits smaller homes. Have you notice how many distributes only sell very large sofas. The manufactures must believe everyone can afford large homes. Anyways, thanks for showing everyone how to make their own sofas. A1+
@easyshop41364 жыл бұрын
As a manufacturer , they don't have a choice, building a big sofa and a small one will cost almost the same in production cost but the profit margin is different in the both, but it was a different questions if it was custom made as a small sofa too will cost as much as a big one and the profit margin is the same then they will made it.

True! This sofa could also be made with outdoor fabric and put on your patio and it would be great. After I did all that work I would probably want it IN my house though.
@70newlife4 жыл бұрын
If you are In USA look for metro size sofas. You usually find these sold in downtown areas of large cities. These are smaller in all dimensions and fit small living rooms very well. Check out furniture rental places they also have a decent collection of small sofas. Ask specifically for metro size.

I doubt it, everything about this video is done in what a person could do at home none of it is how it’s done professionally. He wasted a lot of fabric which can be up to 3000 dollars a yard. Or Atleast that is the most expensive fabric I have dealt with. There are a number of glaring issues wrong with this but all in all not bad for something someone could do on their own and that’s why the video was made it seems. My biggest issue is why didn’t he sew the corner of the seats instead of pleating them 🤦♂️

I live in India. Most of the sofas about 95% made in india are done by craftsmen like these. However their design and dimensions are very bad and not pleasing. Fabric is exported to western countries from India unfortunately same fabric is sold at 3-4 times price in india. So most people choose to use very cheap and bad quality fabric on sofas. If you see them live they look pathetic in design, dimensions and fabric. But skill wise it's ok. But then again making sofa frames and doing upholstery is a very easy skill to pick up and in just 2-3 weeks you can become very competent in making both. However frames are made by carpenters who only make sofa frames the upholster doesn't make frames. Frame making is also a very easy skill to learn just a week's time is enough to become quite competent.

You know something, todays furniture is expensive rubbish, when you compair it to the 50`s. 60`s and even the 70`s, todays furniture is made from cheap pine, its a very basic frame some foam and some of the thinnest material you can find, the 50s, 60s and 70`s furniture had a good solid frame, either metal springs or webbing and lots of padding, it never went out of shape, and the material they used never wore out, it was like putting carpet on a sofa, they built it to last, as opposed to modern furniture, the material sags it gets so worn it goes shiny and might last a few years, you always find the old furniture for sale, and it just needs a clean, its not made to last these days..
