I struggle with my press on shrinking after curing the gel polish. Why does that happen ? Is it the base coat that makes it shrink or the actual gel polish? Should I just size up ?
@sandieloca76749 ай бұрын
you can size up if you know youre doing something bulkier if not your layers might be too thick

I’m pretty sure it’s just that it becomes stiff after curing so it can no longer be pressed down fully.

amazing!!! to remove homemade press ons, is it safe to use something like the KISS press on remover liquid without damaging the handmade nails?
@Katemarienailz Жыл бұрын
Thank you! I’m honestly unsure of that product, I haven’t seen or heard of it before so I don’t know the ingredients and how it reacts with products used to create the press ons. I’ve seen a lot of people soak their press on nails in warm/hot water with dish soap & oil. Supposedly it breaks down the nail glue enough to remove them

Do how many coats of gel polish do you recommend for xl-3xl length nails?
@Katemarienailz Жыл бұрын
I would always only do the number of coats that makes the polish opaque (aside from jelly polish of course). So no matter the length, I’ll only do about 2 coats of any gel polish. If you’re looking to add strength to long nails, try adding builder gel or acrylic under the color (assuming it’s a full cover tip lol)

Can u use gel-x nail extensions for the nail? Can u also use the brand sally hansen?
@Katemarienailz4 ай бұрын
@@chenangel5545 you can, any brand of full cover tips & products work! I’d personally recommend to use actual gel polish rather than their “miracle gel” that’s actually just regular nail polish. Sally Hansen does have actual gel polish as well (you have to cure with a lamp). The reason I recommend that, is regular polish takes a while to dry.. so especially if you plan to do nail art, creating a set with regular polish is going to be extremely time consuming. One more thing, I don’t remember if I mentioned in the video… you can’t apply these as gel-x. Once the nail is no longer clear, the gel wouldn’t cure fully for that application method. You’d have to just glue them or apply with acrylic 😊

i struggle with my polish not curing… not sure if the sticky stuff is the problem or i need a stronger lamp 😩
@Katemarienailz Жыл бұрын
Try making sure your layers of gel polish are applied thin! If your gel still isn’t curing it’s most likely your lamp. Most all gels cure with the tacky layer (unless it’s a 3 in 1 or non wipe) which isn’t an issue when applying more gel over it
@rachelbrzoznowski48168 ай бұрын
Thin layers. Cure longer or get a better lamp. Wipe after done with alcohol.

What do you use to apply press on a to natural nail?
@Katemarienailz9 ай бұрын
Nail glue! But you can also use acrylic, or adhesive tabs!
@ELISEEEEEEE56 ай бұрын
@@Katemarienailz is it normal nail glue or gel x nail glue that u need to cure under a UV lamp?
@Katemarienailz6 ай бұрын
@@ELISEEEEEEE5 you have to cure gel x “glue” under the lamp. I’m not sure if you know, but if you have opaque nails like these, do NOT use a lamp-cured gel to apply them. The light doesn’t penetrate the opaque color and therefore the gel doesn’t fully cure. The edges might cure enough for you to *think* it’s cured, but the center isn’t. Which can lead to gel allergies. It does seem a bit misleading, but any brand of builder gel that’s labeled as “nail glue” - which you have to put under a lamp - isn’t really glue at all. It’s a strong gel that’s used to “glue” the tip onto your nail.

why did you skip the base coat? is it not neccesary? Im learning to do press on nails
@Katemarienailz2 ай бұрын
@@catalinacruzsaez1633 well, you can add it, I personally feel it’s a bit optional for press ons.. Base coat is typically used to help adhesion on natural nails… orrr.. to make an extremely smooth surface (which press on tips usually are already smooth..). I’d recommend if you want to use one, to use a builder gel and apply a thin layer! It’ll help add strength to your press ons & make them feel more like gel extensions when on!

What kinda clay do you use on the stand to hold the nail?
@Katemarienailz Жыл бұрын
It’s just a tacky putty! It’s not *extremely* sticky but it holds the nail on well enough for painting!
@TrueCrimeDiva Жыл бұрын
Another great idea, what I do is use the sticky stickers that come w/ press ones in the box….i buy those in bundles and use them for my stands bc it’s much stickier and leaves no residue behind! I’ve done it this way ever since!

Of I do 3d flower using gel polish and clear acrylic powder like you, then no need to use top coat. Am I right ma'am?
@Katemarienailz Жыл бұрын
You’re correct! No topcoat over textured art! There’s been times I forgot to apply the topcoat before doing textured art, so I try going back and applying it only around the texture, and it ends up looking a bit weird. Don’t be like me 😂 don’t forget the textured art step is the last step!

is the polish meant to be sticky after curing?
@Katemarienailz Жыл бұрын
That’s the inhibition layer! It’s normal for most all gels. For base coats & colored polish, do not remove that tacky layer. After the top coat gel is cured you can remove the stickiness if your topcoat has it. There are gels that don’t have this, which for the most part will be “no wipe” gel topcoats. They cure without the tacky layer. There are a few brands I’ve seen that have gel colors that cure without the sticky layer, those typically named “one step gels” since you only need one layer.
