I love environmental effects that are constantly changing. Timer effects and such. Video games can be an amazing source of inspiration for things like this!

One simple, cheap technique for doing this the analog way so you don't have to redraw the entire map X times: Ink up a basic map without heavy detailing (or at least, only the detailing which would be universal despite changes). Run off several black and white copies on a printer/scanner or photocopier. This let's you keep the 'base map' all in black lines, and you can easily draw in changes to any given copy. If you happen to have a light table, all the better as you can lay a copy or two on top of another and see changes, etc.

I know it's not the main theme of this video, but those rocky steps!!! I love those rocky steps!!! I'm going to steal that technique, and maybe even use it in manmade dungeons. I always kind of thought straight lines for steps was a bit boring. These are SO much cooler!!!

I’ve been wanting to make a living hedge maze module for a while but I can’t quite crack how to make it reactive while still giving the players agency in navigating it.

That sounds awesome! Was planning on doing a maze one month, but can’t figure out how to make it fun and not frustrating!

Idea from Skyward Sword & the Amazing Labyrinth board game: What if you made a dungeon where each room was a piece in a sliding puzzle, and the players could - in some rooms - slide the rooms around to connect them to make different rooms accessible? If that sounds like too much to design, you could cut an already connected dungeon up and jumble it. The players may even want to hole up in a room they like and slide it across the dungeon to the goal while encountering the varied entities of neighboring rooms they pass, whether invited or not.

That's an awesome idea!
