I love making lip balms with alkanet root. I usually mix it straight with the oil then strain it. I find that works much faster and the root sinks to the bottom so I don't need to worry about the root staying in it. I've never had a problem with mold so it must have worked. I like to make it more glossy though so that I get more color. Such a beautiful color!

That sounds lovely! Also, if there's no water in your lip balms you wouldn't have to worry about mold-perhaps just a bit of grit from the alkanet :)

Humblebee & Me I haven't had any problems at all with grit amazingly! it all seams to settle to the bottom and actually stick together. the consistency reminds me of cornstarch mixed with some water when it settles. I love using it as a gloss over homemade lipsticks that are very solid. and when I want a natural glowing look it's perfect! especially with a bb cream!

Not sure if you know but if you have a heat gun run it over the top of the lip balm after you put it into the Containers and solidifies it fills the holes on the top or a hairdryer on hot it works to but you probably already know lol.

Evehsv wait until it solidifies. Then hold the heat gun or dryer at least 6 inches away. It's quick, easy, and adds a professional touch.

I wach ur vedios, menufactoring 4 flavours of lipbalm.. alkanate root ģivs vry nice colour to lipbalm dark redish bt it does nt tint lips. I tried Wt cn we use to tint lipbalm naturaly. I tried wd mch quantity of alkanate root also.

Those sorts of things generally get added last as they aren't very heat tolerant :)

Generally speaking the level of pigment will be the biggest difference. Lip balm has no pigment, lip tints contain a small amount of pigment, and lipsticks are highly pigmented.

If u dont add beeswax would it be like liquid lip moisturizer?? Is it gonna be preserved just fine?

The lack of beeswax will not impact the shelf life-the product still does not require a preservative as it still does not contain water. However, it will make an awful lip product without the beeswax. To get an idea, try putting some cooking oil on your mouth... that's roughly what you'd end up with :/

In what form? You can include pomegranate oil in the lip balm in place of the liquid oil.

Hey Renee! Without water present, you won't have oxidization issues; I've had tubes of this lip balm stay colour stable for upwards of a year (and then I used 'em all up-they never started to fade).
