Great idea, The drawing pins give them some weight too. But if your children are young them painting may be a better option.

These are amazing to see. I have several gargoyles that these will be adorable setting by him (well, HER I assume now). I have made some of those eggs, and what I did because I wanted something different, I first put the push pins in a piece of styrofoam and painted the tops with nail polish once they were dry I then pushed them into the egg. The result was quite nice.

You can dip the point in some white glue before you stick them in to hold the pins in place. Sometimes they do tend to fall out.

I absolutely love these!!! I already have a set of crocheted GoT dragon eggs but these would be amazing for displaying! Tip though, start pushing pins in from the bottom wider part of the egg and the scales will be facing the right direction :) Might also be cool to give them a spray paint coat to look like the GoT dragon eggs, totally giving these a try thank you! :D

Drawing pins from pound shop a box of 100. Eggs from the range 89p a mixed pack. you can get the eggs from hobby craft shops too. and most places who do stationary will do drawing pins. Try different colors of pins too.

Please, do not leave these any place that small children or pets could possibly gain access to, the pin points are very sharp, and the metallic compounds can be toxic if ingested. These are also a major choking hazard for children and pets, seal the completed egg or eggs within a see-through dome or clear viewing case. The metallic coat on the tacks does come off rapidly on exposure to weather, since most modern rain will have a mildly acid PH. Tis far better to plan ahead for safety than it is to repent on disaster for the remainder of a lifetime! I have grown up and am still growing much older with cats, dogs, and children, it never ceases to amaze me how many ways they come up with to scare more grey hairs into my life daily !!!
