Steph I have been making your tortilla recipe since the 5lb recipe came out 😊 I make them about every 2-3 months I hand them out to family and friends who love them. They are always so surprised at how soft they are after they pull them out the freezer. They don't stick together at all makes it easy to just grab 1 at a time. Sending you ladies loves & hugs from Texas.

I have never in my life tried to make my own tortillas from scratch, until watching this video. I do have some baking experience, just no experience with making tortillas. As a 53y.o. man I struggled with this. All the while telling myself that at the end of the process I will be wiser and more knowledgeable for my effort. I used butter instead of lard. In the future I may try to use lard so that I have a frame of reference for comparison. Before making the small dough balls I weighed the large ball of dough, so that I knew roughly how to evenly split it up into equal parts. I had roughly 653g of dough so I broke it into roughly equal parts of 65g, or 10 smaller balls. If I make them again I might aim for somewhere between 70-75g for a 12" tortilla. My tortillas ended up closer to 10 inches. the extra 5-10g of dough I believe would have helped in making the tortillas a bit larger. Overall, I consider this a success even though I struggled. I learned a lot from my experience and moving forward I have the benefit of what I learned along the way. Thank you so much for sharing your recipe with us all in this wonderful video. 🙂

Hello...I absolutely love authentic tortillas. Ive made them one time and gave up. Ive been CRAVING shredded beef enchiladas and it only is great if i can make the tortillas myself. I do not have the lard, but i do have unsalted butter. You expressed we can use butter. I hope that they will be just as great??? I wish my sweet husband was still here with me to help enjoy this meal..or just be the rock for me as he used to be. One day I will see him again...thanks to a change of heart..he became a christian before he passed away..So, in short..this recipe is dedicated to my man.."Biker Bob"!!! Thank you for sharing...Jody

I had made flour tortillas a few times prior with other vloggers and they had come out to thick and not soft. So when I viewed your video, I felt confident I could make them with your instruction. One of the things that made such a difference to me is the way you explained what each step should look like, feel like and why. So helpful. My husband LOVES them and it is truly true that once you make them at home ( with y’all’s recipe, of course !) you’ll not buy another tortilla from the store. Thank you both oh so very much!❤️ R

I love your new easy recipe! This recipe is as close to my mothers tortillas as I remember them. She cooked them on a comale outside and would add a touch of ash from the wood fire, did not use a rolling pin only her soft beautiful hands from making tortillas for so many years. Thank you, I am close to tears finally finding a recipe that is spot on authentic. Mine came out perfecto!! I cook alot and there is nothing that brings the kind of joy that making good tortillas and tamales bring, it is a quiet joy I know you know what I mean.

I so love you 2. I have told many of my friends about your channel. My grandmother was Spanish Basque. I never knew about Mexican food until we moved to the US. Unfortunately, many people believe that all Spanish speaking people know how to make each others food. In my world, a tortilla was always an omelette with potatoes. Now I have a great place to send my friends to learn about Mexican food in a knowledgeable and kind way. I love flour tortillas, so it will be nice to try making them at home. As my grandmother always used to say, "Hija, hay que rezar." All the best for your journey. 💛

Hi, so I made this recipe with the Armour Lard. You’re right about it being to sticky. So I ended up putting the dough in the stand mixer and gradually adding about half a cup of flour until the dough passed the window pane test and was smooth with a little bit of tackiness. (about 5 minutes in the mixer) I crossed my fingers hoping for the best as it rested. The dough turned out great. Super soft, pliable, thin ,and flavor was on point! I love you’re tortilla recipes. After they are fried, can they be frozen? Or can the balls of dough be frozen?

Thanks! I tried your other recipe for my first time and it was great. I’m gonna try this one now. Can you freeze the dough too for later? Or to make a big batch? Thanks again! Your tortillas are the best. I’m a guy too so appreciate the lessons!

Greetings from Texas, thanks for acknowledging your male audience too. I'm new to your channel and love your content it brings back so many memories of when I was growing up eating all the wonderful comfort foods that my mom would make. Keep up the good work and great recipes, I will be making these tortillas (attempting to) because I never make soft tortillas. Que Dios te bendiga e Cloud e Familia.

They are so soft and delicious! I made it 3 times with unsalted butter and will try Crisco next time. I taught my granddaughters, too. You are patient, kind, and explained so well. Thank you for giving us all the confidence to do it! Our reward is yummy tortillas!

Just started making tortillas. I’ve watched other vids to see how others make them. A couple of them said to get the comal or skillet really hot and one even said “screaming hot”. Now I know why mine are crispy. Thank you.

They look so good. We have to be gluten free now. So still waiting to see when a decent gluten free flour tortilla comes out. I realize the corn tortillas are great, but sometimes one just needs a flour one.

This is mom's exact recipe, that she's been doing her entire life and they are the best tortillas ever. The only problem we have is that they don't reheat well, they almost get stiff and are not good anymore, so everytime she makes them they're fresh. I wonder what she is doing different so that we can't have some prepped already and just reheat them.

Thanks for sharing 🤗! Right when the tortillas are cooked I removed them. When I reheat them, they taste like they were freshly made. Hope this helps ❤️

Hey, I'm just a guero from Yuma, Arizona, but since all of us there grew up with the Sonoran style of cooking my confort food is primarily Mexican cuisine. I love your simple way of cooking and explaining how you do it. My mom was like you in her way of simplicity, having grown up poor during the Depression. Being virtually a only chile I was on mom's apron in the kitchen growing up - learning her ways. To this day I cook without a recipe. And from being immersed in Northwestern Mexican culture I learned to cook from many nurturting Mexican women too. It was cool to be reminded how to make flour torts. I used to do that a lot back in the day. I never bought flour tortillas back then. The only torts I bought were del maise from a little tortilla factory/restaurant in Yuma called La Fonda. A friend who worked there showed me the process, and it was simple - cooking raw corn with Calcium Hydroxide. It is almost impossible now to by corn torts that are simply made - not having preservatives and other junk included. I didn't catch where you are from, but it always my pleasure to suggest that someone experience the absolutely unique cuisinies in Yuma. There the Sonoran style is specific to that town, cultured and nurtured for nearly 100 years by two or three families - Joe Chretin, the Gutierrez family, and a couiple others. The Machaca burritos at Mr. G's are the best burritos I have ever had - bara none. And you can get them ONLY in Yuma. People come there from all over the country just for those. There are other dishes I'll turn you onto later. For now Via con Dios Senora. My respect and joy is yours. Larry aka Lario Yavez

Legit Sonoran flour tortillas. Never use Crisco or any shortening. Will totally change the texture and taste. Pork lard is where its at for real tortilla taste. Good job

I never thought I’d be able to make tortillas. After moving to Mississippi from San Diego, CA. I was dying for really good authentic tortillas to have around the house. They were so easy to get in SD. I followed your recipe and your wonderful directions/tips and tricks and they turned out AMAZING. My boyfriend (with high tortilla expectations, from SD as well) loved them and so many people were shocked I could make tortillas! Lol. Thank you, girl!
