Never Dot awesome thank you and real great video in terms of quality, information, and entertainment! I assume that first run was a bit more expensive as there was an intermediary involved?
@NeverDot7 жыл бұрын
There's definitely some additional costs involved, such as having the factory mail the pins to the intermediary first, then to myself, but Pin Game Strong is very generous I would say and doesn't affect the cost as much as other third party companies do. I compared with some others and found them to be much higher in cost. Though it is certainly beneficial to secure a contact with a tested and trusted factory to optimise costs.
@Pintallica7 жыл бұрын
Never Dot Ah okay yeah I figure the intermediary would have to benefit from it. I just wasn't sure if those were the average prices even without an intermediary and he would just be compensated with discounts from the manufacturer. Thank you once again for everything. @NeverDot7 жыл бұрын
No problem at all. I used Pin Game Strong because I was under a very tight deadline and I didn't have previous experience with the process, so having someone to take you through it was nice. In future, with time as a luxury, I could do minimal (probably 100 pieces) test runs with other factories to gauge the quality and consistency. Many people making pins will avoid divulging their factory since if it were publically known, the factory could be inundated with orders, which they would meet by compromising quality for everyone. Hence, many people with good factories keep them secret out of fear of this happening.

what was your average cost per pin? mold fees, shipping etc??
@NeverDot6 жыл бұрын
The average pin cost depends on your order quantity. Check out the price sheet on Pin Game Strong (link in description) and get out your calculator to see where the sweet spot is for you. If you can score a direct link to a factory, you might be able to get the prices down to $1 USD per pin. I've not gone that route yet myself yet. Shipping is actually fairly decent. For me, located in Canada it ran about $60. Pins are fairly compact and you can fit quite a lot in a relatively small box. Molds I believe were about $50 each. You can check out the extras on the Pin Game Strong price sheet near the bottom. Other factories might also offer neat extras like chains, glitter, printed areas, etc.

whats the general MSRP price difference between soft and hard enamel pins?
@NeverDot6 жыл бұрын
I used Pin Game Strong and they have a price sheet on their site which you can check out to compare volumes and types. Going from that though, you can see hard enamel pins run between 10-25% more. I never felt it was such a great gap that it forced a decision either way, but if your primary driver is cost savings, soft enamel is of course the way to go. Some people like the more textured feel of soft enamel, which really brings out the physical feel of the design, while others are really attracted to the nice smooth finish of hard enamel pins which has a professional, elegant sense to it. The MSRP, however, tends to ignore this base cost difference, probably since it's not huge, and I would expect either type of pin to run in the $8-14 range.

Not so much how to make them, but how to get them made. I suppose making them is not an easy process then, but at least the title could be more truthful to what you're showing. @NeverDot5 жыл бұрын
It is indeed more difficult to make them oneself than to get them made. As I was already generally aware that people were making enamel pins in factories, not by hand, I was searching for how to make them in the way I saw them being made by others. Not finding a comprehensive video, I made one myself covering my experiences with it and titled it what I had been searching for in the hopes it would help others in the same situation. It seems to have been the right choice for most people. Sorry to have failed in your case though. I hope you find how to make them by hand, if that's what you're after.
@JiM-SWEET-art5 жыл бұрын
@@NeverDot I understand, I'm not trying to complain too much about the title and the content not matching so much, but don't you think you may get more viewers if your title is more specific to what you are communicating? Like "How to have enamel pins made ( designed by you )" or something like this. In my effort to see if I could make these by hand and seeing that's it's pretty impossible, your video is very informative and it is something a viewer, seeing that making them by hand is pretty much impossible, will eventually turn to as the next step to getting some pins made. I'm simply just saying if you change your title or edit it a bit, you won't really get complaints and people will find out that coming to your video will be the next best alternative, seeing that they won't be able to make them themselves. It's a good video to me now learning and now knowing that I will have to find a manufacturer if I want quality pins made using my own designs. I know what you mean though, it is kind of like making them yourself when you are the person designing them, but it does cause a bit of confusion and, as you can see by some of your comments, it makes people a bit upset when they think they are being slightly fooled into viewing a video they weren't looking for at that time. The thing they are missing is it will be a good video to come back to when they discover it's what they will need. So maybe, in a way, none of our complaints are really fair when the truth is discovered, being this is the only way a most of us will be able to make them by only being able to contribute the design part of the process.

@@NeverDot Cool. I also do appreciate the video. Yeah my nephew was talking about these pins over the weekend and he said this guy he was talking to made them and I was wondering, how can he make these? Maybe there was a way of making them that was somehow simple to do having the right materials or something. Now I'm sure he does it the same way, it's the design part is what they mean and then they are manufactured. Well, good talking to you and I'm gonna try doing something like this. I also might try making my own in another way using wire, glue and enamel paints. See how it comes out. Take it easy.

Thanks for the misleading title.

Sorry! It's intended for creators familiar with people doing them with factories and so focuses on the design side of things.

Don't rush me! I'm working up to the change in mindset. That's a tough guy look and I'm not sure if I can pull it off. :)

You didn’t tell me how to make you you showED how to get someone else.........

The actual factory where they make them is about 9,380km away and my camera's extension cord is only 30cm long, so I had to use someone to assist. I feel like they didn't go to the factory either though. Maybe some day!

No offence could possibly be taken, and it isn't getting any better with time! I blame my parents. Let this be a lesson to everyone! Pick your parents carefully! I didn't do a DNA background check before I was born and look what happened to me!
