That was really helpful. It's strange to me how on its own that lead sounds really hard on your ears but within the mix it sounds great. I'm personally just struggling to find the motivation to layer sounds because for me it's a lot of trial and error.

Don't use haas delay on main leads. Or at least not all the time. It produces very, very bad mono compatibility and could sound terrible and thin on big soundsystems.

Yep. Keeping the main lead mono and using haas effect on a less important layer is the way to go!

@@seanhsjung I sometimes prefer a little bit different method, but yes, we're agreed that haas delaying only sounds good at a first glance and in headphones/bedroom studio. I'm irritated at advice that was given grooming, editing, a lot of adjectives, but was not given time and proper test.

As soon as I put little alter boy or Pitch Monster into the LD - Chain and shifting the formant slightly, I get some nasty artifacts when switching from one note to the next. What could I be doing wrong? Great tutorial and interesting techniques as always :)

Try using dryer sound, too much reverb or other space effects will not work well with a formant shifter
