Adding raw fish into the pot is a turn off for me. The fish will definitely turn out tasteless inside.

I can understand that , it depends on the type of fish. Hake fish which I use absorbs flavour nicely especially when the food is well seasoned. If you are worried of having a tasteless fish, then you can season the fish before adding.
