I met my two best friends by joining a sport that I never even considered before, rowing. The morning of my first practice I got up and did NOT want to go but the person I was carpooling with convinced me. Later I met two girls that I'm still friends with today. Not only did I learn a brand new skill but I found some lifelong friends. Trying something new with people you don't know is an amazing tip to make new friends. Great video. On another note, I love hearing you guys talk about volleyball. It's been my favorite sport my entire life and it makes me happy to hear other people do too. 😁

Hey guys I know this video is old but I only just watched it today, and I'd just like to let you know that it helped me a great deal along with other similar talks videos I watched that came up after. Good tips! I'll be sure to use them :D I recently went to a wedding, the disco was going, people were dancing and i was sitting at a empty table feeling awkward. My anxiety glued me to that chair, until i studied the people on dance floor. I saw that some people were dancing just for the hell of it; No partners, No groups, just dancing by themselves, without a care in the world. Noticing that sent a spark straight to my brain. I wanted to be like them. The anxiety glue melted away. i got up jived myself to the dance floor and started dancing around, just clicking my fingers, swinging my arms side to side and moving my legs (basic, but effective!). After two songs I started mingling with other lone dancers and before you know it there was a group of us! After the 4th song all sense of anxiety had gone! I danced for 3 hours, only stopping for water! I did all this without one drop on alcohol :D (Was driving, be safe people!) just be free people ^.^

I used to work 3rd shift at a gas station, and I used to pray that SOMEONE weird would come in and talk to me. It was so dull. I've had a guy that swallowed a bag of heroin, I had a guy talk to me about ancient robots and aliens and anime, I got communists and vikings, people I had no idea lived in my community. I would just goat people's interests out of them if they looked like they had time. One guy would always come in and buy lottery tickets, after a few weeks I learned he was a TSA agent who bought these tickets for his father, who loved scratch offs. We talked for a long time about being a father/son and our responsibility to our families and communities. I'd always give him free shit cuz that's the guy I am, but what I mean is, the people around you are just like you. They all have dreams and aspirations and "After this I'll.." they're full of it and they want to tell you all about it. And they want to hear all about you. Go out and make someone's day, make the world an adventure of love and light.

If you like something in common, but had other different interests, that's okay. It wouldn't be fun if everyone was the same kind of people, with the same kind of thought. When I'm out with my friends, I usually rely on them to meet new people before I am comfortable talking to them. However, as a store clerk, I love talking to customers about what they get up to. My favourite conversation was with a guy wearing a BA jacket who turned out to be a BA crash engineer and I learned a lot about that from him. It is also easy to strike up conversations with the regulars and I even see some of them in town and stop and have a conversation with them.
