Generally speaking, sending porn or opening conversation with NSFW topics is a terrible way to introduce oneself. It guarantees a block from me, and unfortunately it happens a lot. People who do that sort of thing are a big part of the reason many are hesitant to get more involved in the fandom.

Usually I at least start with casual flirting before seeing porn, ask people their boundaries, figure out what they’re comfortable with, normal people things, and then if there is mutual interest you load those DMs up with some downright filthy porn and nudes. Unfortunately I've only been exposed to the more toxic side of the fandom through Twitter and Ferzu. It has made my experience with other furries in the community rather unpleasant. I know there's plenty of good groups out there, but being an introvert kinda makes it hard to go out of my way to find them.

Another point, most first conversations are going to be hard because you want to make a good first impression. Let’s be real, first impressions don’t mean anything later on in a relationship. Plenty of people start off not liking each other and then become best friends or vice versa later down the road. All you can do is be you, and not try to please everyone. But also, don’t be an asshole. Those will only set you up for disappointment.
