Its truly a delight to see you in your element, as they say. Simply doing what you love. ps Im sure you've tried it, but if not, you might be interested to try some kettle corn. Its sweet and salty.

I looove good kettle corn. I was sitting here thinking, wouldn’t hurt to try a little salt in with the sugar water. At least you’d get an idea of how close you could get to that good kettle corn flavor. The most you’d lose is a third cup of kernels. And a lil sugar. But if it works… that’d be a game changer and big savings on the grocery bill. I’m definitely going to try it when my popcorn bowl arrives from amazon. 😋

I think you are right about liking what you are used too. I'm not a big fan of kettle corn but it wouldn't stop me from trying this. Too bad I don't have a microwave.

When I was a kid in the 1950s, we could find popcorn like this but in block form. Popcorn balls taste a lot like this. Fun video, thanks

This was so interesting. I've always loved popcorn and have made probably 1,000 pots of it. I've never seen it popped in water! For mine I have a large saucepan, cover the bottom with thin layer of canola oil, put a layer of kernels on the bottom, turn on medium high heat on stove, cover, wait. Listen for it to stop popping. Dump in a bowl. Salt it. I have tried some things lately. Sprinkle of parmesan cheese. Or substitute some of the oil with peanut oil. Yours looks very good and it would be nice to use no oil. Thanks!

Sehr interessant! Ich kab kein microwelle aber vielleicht eines Tages! Will try sometime. I think i will really like bc a Neighbor used to make pppcorn balls made with sugared syrup and an aunt made homemade carmel or cracker jack. Enjoyed those better than buttery/salty also. ❤ Vielen Dank Barbara🙏

Hey neighbor! A few queations: how may this be made on a stove? Have you tried Rudi Lechners restaurant or visited Bistro le Cep (delicious German/Austrian/European country food) - both on the westside of Houston!
@MyGermanRecipes3 жыл бұрын
I have heard of Rudi Lechner’s restaurant but since he serves what I cook at home, I don’t go there. If I eat out, I want to eat something different. I like Indian and Pakistani food, Korean BBQ, … new flavors and always a great experience.

I don’t know but you can try. Maybe add a little oil then? 🤷♀️

Thank you for this. I know when I lived in Germany while in college, I was terribly surprised at my first introduction to the sweet popcorn at the movie theatre. But, because we have popcorn balls and carmel corn and kettle corn, this is certainly one that can be gotten used to! (Although I think I'm always going to prefer salted popcorn at the movies!) ;-) It seems this would be very similar to the kettle corn, as it is not a carmelized corn. But I would like to make both recipes to compare the two. We do not have a microwave. Do you have a non-microwave recipe for the making of this? Thank you!
@MyGermanRecipes3 жыл бұрын
I think you would need to use some oil if you are making this on a stove but I‘ve never done it on a stove.

First time having American popcorn… How was your first time tasting American beer? Meine Mutti still talks about it 60 years later!

I tried it once and never again. I’ll stick to German beer or Korean “Cloud” beer which tastes as good.

@@MyGermanRecipes I can find Erdinger Weissbier easily here. It's from close to meine Muttis Heimatstadt. I have to say American craft beers are REALLY good now. Many small breweries in Germany are starting to copy them especially the IPAs. I bring IPAs to my cousins in Germany and they really enjoy them. So viel Hopfen! Lecker!

But Kettle corn is caramelized with butter, this one isn’t. It’s just slightly sweet.
@lisapop52193 жыл бұрын
@@MyGermanRecipes I have had carmel corn and kettle corn and they are very different. Carmel corn is very sweet. The kettle corn does have butter, true, and the sweetness is from sugar being added but not caramelized. I'm sure your recipe is very good and I would like to try it but don't have a popper. I was just remarking from you saying we don't have anything like it here, nothing more. Have a good week
