So i really have to say that that i love your shorts-tutorial, they are lifesaver. And Thanks for getting into full video tutorials i think you have a amazing, unique workflow. Just one question, why don´t leave the halftone gradient at the are (no rasterize and changing it back to vector), and just change the opacaty/blend mode in Illustrator, with that you would have a non destructive workflow and could change the gradient at any point of your design? Keep rocking!!!

This was the very video I needed! Thank you so much! I don't know if it would be "too much work" but I would actually love a full-length video from like start to finish sort of thing on how you bring one of your characters to life?

nice tutorial. just an idea: you can achieve the same without rasterizing it to pixels by converting the halftone dots via object > convert appearance and then delete white area with the magic wand or setting the layer to multiply
@ollies_doodles_6 ай бұрын
Hey mate, thank you for your comment! So just to run through your points here: unfortunately, as this is a photoshop effect, the magic wand wouldn't work in this instance as expand appearance will simple flatten the halftone meaning we would then need to image trace like I show in the video. Changing the blend mode on the other hand could be an option but does restrict you in terms of editing options. By image tracing the effect you gain the ability to customise the halftones however you wish, in particular the option to change the halftone colours. I hope this helps with understanding my thought process mate :)

That was well done! More stuff like this is always good. Out of curiosity, image trace has settings that adjust the output, could any of those be used to make the halftone smoother?
@ollies_doodles_6 ай бұрын
Hey mate, i've found the different settings in the image trace panel can help with the smoothness in some instances. If I am working on a large scale halftone then adjusting the settings can help, but with some of the smaller designs I haven't been able to get the same level of smoothness as changing the resolution does. But have a play around with the settings and see if it can work for you :)
