How should we get the initial size of the fabric square for the skirt? I was thinking maybe double the wanted skirt length+length of the amount cut out for waist? Thank you so much 🧡✨

it's your skirt length measurement plus the cut out part. i.e fold your fabric into four, mark your waist radius. Then from the marked line, mark down your desired skirt length on all edges so that your fabric still remains squared. when you raise the skirt up after cutting, the handkerchief will fall naturally below your desired skirt length so you don't have to add extra length to your skirt except for the seam allowance
