rosecolouredglasses: I agree absolutely! 100 %! I just are becoming nearly "blind" if I see young Girls/Tees/Twens with a "Swim-roll" coming up over/ at their Waistline/Taille! They buy Jeans often just 2 sizes to small, because they want to wear 26 (or?) like their Girl-Friend(s), but their Body-Measures are more "big", they need a 28/30 or 29/32 (Lengh)! Thats okay, a good Body, but with to small Jeans they look more "fat" as they are in Reality! So stupid! 😢😉😏 Sorry for my English today, I didn't sleep well and have some problems with my Concentration! 😉 And Karen: thank a lot for this great Video, really very classy, I hope that a lot of Women and Girls look and hear exactly what you are telling them! So helpfull! If I would more "talented" for Videos, I had done exactly the same and tell the World the same! So right!

I'm finished. That's it! Loving fashion in the midwest is misunderstood and even condemned, at times. Often considered a frivolous waste of time. But I can't help it another minute. I'm finished wearing acrylic and stretch denim because I don't have the income to afford high end. Your vlogs sparked something in me to harness the courage to completely toss my wardrobe.....12 bags of ridiculous. I marched myself to a hidden gem of a vintage thrift store and spent $53.00......Boom...I had the start of a brand new wardrobe with quality one of a kind peices...silk, cashmere, 100% cotton, and belts! Oh, the belts! etc. I am finished looking at magazines and longing for what I "can never have" and instead... just made it happen. Thank you for offering the inspiration I needed....I can't wait for next months thrifting day....

I found your blog a long time ago and sort of lost it but was so glad to discover you on instagram and on youtube again! You are obviously smaller than I am but I've found your advice and style to be rather democratic. Thank you!!

Going oversized doesn't work for curvy or hourglass body types, but it does work for models and hangers because they have pretty much no curves. I'm short and kind of hourglass and going oversized looks frumpy instead of chic a lot of the time.

I'm plus sized and it's the same for me. The more I can accent my waistline, the better it seems to be. I could just be biased, though. I've always loved the well tailored, Italian approach to fashion.

@bunnyteeth3657 жыл бұрын
But you can at least avoid oversized.
@passionfruitfruit7 жыл бұрын
Anonymous noneya that's so true! I'm medium height, hour-glass figure. My clothes simply have to fit well in the waist (or be able to fit with a help of a belt). Otherwise I just look shapeless! The same goest with skirts: give me a too flouncy one, and I'll 'develop' huge-huge hips in a second, a monstrocity, double in size. My clothes, esp.skirts (where an 'A' line is a perfect choice) should not be skinny, but an oversized item is a big no-no! However, this may look good on skinny girls who want to add some bulk to their figures.
@bunnyteeth3657 жыл бұрын
I can't even wear belted tops a lot of the time. It makes my curves look fat and cut off in a funny way. Even when I was eleven and twelve. Loose skirts are a no-no as well. The best skirts for me are pencil skirts.

OMG Karen - THIS video was brilliant in the sense that it's a wake-up call to all ladies who most probably have a wardrobe full of awesome vintage (or not) clothes and don't know how to make the most of them. Also totally agree with the buying 1, 2 or 3 sizes up. I feel that being trendy doesn't have to mean feeling "boxed" and tight in clothes. A baggy jumper works miracles for comfort and confidence - and belts make just about any look, look chic. And, finally - YESSS! - choose denim that is thicker. Like you say, it'll always look good and will look better the more the denim's washed, besides lasting you a lifetime. Lotsaluv from a fellow Londoner now living in sunny Portugal. Take care, sweetheart xoxoxoxo (Keep those videos coming ;) )

Karen, I always love, love, love your videos. And two things I want to mention: first, thank you for that outfit with the black scarf used as a belt on your pink coat. I came across a pink trench coat that I got last season and lost the belt to it.... and I was sort of at a loss for what to do. So you gave me a great alternative idea. Also, I wanted to mention that long skirt with the tank and the Fedora looked so amazing on you. You look so good in hats. I love hats too and I was wondering if you could do a video on hats - how to pick out a good fedora, what to look for in the material, the fit, some good brands to look for, etc. That would be amazing. Ok, enough from me. Thanks again. I love your personality and I get so excited when I see you've posted a vid. xx, SS

Hey! Great video! Just to add a few more details to your list... 1. Loose threads on a garment can make it look cheap and tired, so just keep an eye on them! :P 2. Well ironed garments look more expensive just because of the reason you mentioned, they hang on the body in a nice way!! 3. Well maintained garments e.g. when washing white shirts, following the fabric instructions and washing it with other whites only, can make the shirt go a long way and remain fab! Loved your style btw!!! Keep it up!!

Superb!!!! Proportions are so key to a more lux look. Designer clothes offer that-in the generous length of a sleeve or pant leg; the slouch of a sweater. By cheating that with high street or vintage clothes by sizing up and looking at how things lie on our body---such a big difference. I'm going to have to belt something today 😉

I fell in love with the pink pleated shirt on your video. I finally found it on eBay! I paired it with a soft pink oversized sweater along with a pair of rose gold Birkenstocks. I feel like a million bucks wearing it. I agree with the men’s ware. The over all length of a man’s shirt fit my torso and arms so much better. I will then tailor it to fit my proportions. I’ve also noticed that buttons and zippers on menswear are reinforced, more so than women’s. I can’t even begin to count the number of times I’ve had buttons unravel and fall off my blouses. Men’s shirts have extra buttons sewn right on the shirt, so you can’t lose them. (I always misplace the little plastic button bag off my new blouses! )

I just accidentally came across your videos. I'm loving them! You are going into the details that matter. Thank you! I wish I had found you years ago!

Well done! Love your take on fashion. Have to reinvent myself and come up with a cohesive look. After way too many years wearing scrubs and sneakers to work, have to come up with more than sweatsuits in my retirement. Thanks for the ageless tips.

Thankfully, sense prevails!! The cut is something a lot of people forget or they were never taught - humbly I feel because there's less brilliant quality tailoring out there in the high street than there once was in 1990s.

and you're soo right about menswear, it always looks better made and using better fabric than the women's!!!
