🚨 Note: Camera Control settings in Accessibility is coming with iOS 18.1

wow! changing the camera control button to a lighter touch in accessibly makes a big difference in accuracy of my touch when operating the camera control button. love shooting in the stark b&w mode to adjust tone and exposure. I find taking out the color allows me to more accurately tweak these settings. the color can always be added back in after capturing the photo.

Interesting idea, I'm going to try that.

I hope Apple can add an option in the software to open the camera instantly when the iPhone is locked, just like we can with the action button. Currently, it requires turning on the screen and then a second tap to access the camera, which feels a bit inconvenient. It would be great if we could simply press once and have the camera ready to go, just like with the action button.
@BiO811HazarDКүн бұрын
I totally agree. My work around was to change the settings to require a double click of the button to open the camera. Now it feels like a more consistent experience. Double click from a locked screen and double click when using the phone. Not ideal, but consistency makes it better imo

Same here, would be a nice toggle option.
@1trueaccord20 сағат бұрын
You can launch from a locked phone. Just tap twice and it will open immediately.
@upupawayandbeyond17 сағат бұрын
@@1trueaccord Double pressing doesn’t really launch the camera immediately; it first turns on the screen and then opens the camera. 😕 With the action button, a single press (even when the screen is locked) launches the camera right away, without requiring a second tap. It would be great if Apple could eventually add a toggle in settings to allow the ‘camera control’ to open the camera with a single press, just like the action button, even when the phone is locked. 🙂

I agree that it’s hard to hold the phone steady when pressing it to take a photo. I might use it only to change settings and use the on-screen shutter to take photos, but I’m trying to give it a fair try before deciding.

They could very easily turn the camera button into a much more useful slider for volume control or toggling through settings(or anything else) via a software update

Lighter touch changes things. The firmer press results in shaky cam and blurry images
@axel1978Күн бұрын
Exactly. I use it to open the camera en then use the onscreen button…..
@brigibbКүн бұрын
Lighter press does not apply to the full press that controls the shutter btw.
@jeremyguiab22 сағат бұрын
@@brigibbso you still have to firmly press the button to take a photo then. It would make the photos blurred out

I haven’t tried this yet, but there should be a way to transform the Camera Control button into an action button. You can create a shortcut that runs when a specific app is opened. Set this shortcut to an app that works with the Camera Control button. Now, when you press the Camera Control button and it opens the app, the shortcut will be triggered. (You can then close the app using the "Go to Home Screen" action.)
@beardfmКүн бұрын
You probably can do that, but you'll always see the camera for a second first. I think it's better to do a Shortcuts folder with the Action button if you want multiple functions.

They should’ve moved that button more down by the corner until the camera notch is in the black spot of the image preview. After trying it out in person, I decided the replace my 11 pro to 15 pro max. Thanks for the vid

I tried it out in the store and it was clunky at best. Now maybe those who actually own an iphone 16 can share their long term experience with it later and maybe it'll actually be useful somehow, but for the time being it seems like a gimmicky extra button. I didn't even get the 15 because the action button seemed like a gimmick. The phone looks cluttered up with all these buttons. I'm keeping my iphone 14 until apple sorts their sh*t out.
@Le-Petit-LegoКүн бұрын
can you use a random traditional Iphone tripods and does tripod holder pushes the new button ? I'm kinda nervous if new iphone works with my tripod. And I suspect tripod holder brokes the phone's button.

Any function that can do this with the action button and volume button? Shortcut?
@beardfmКүн бұрын
You can't access specific camera features within Shortcuts, aside from modes like Selfie, Portrait, etc.

Tried it out in store, not one thing about it is intuitive, it's a mess with swipes half clicks, convoluted menus popping up
