Raymond, Thanks for the video on Assist's rigging. I was wondering what is the strength of the wire you are using? Thanks.

I've found wire is actually a slimmer profile over the assist cords available and it's not impacting my bites. Even the non toothy critters were weakening my cords so I'm just all 49 strand AFW in 275# or stronger.

And I obviously don't use wire on my slow pitch assist hooks I like to braid 3 strands of 200lb Kevlar for them.

Awesome. The amount of kevlar cut by my fish is becoming quite the frustration. Will use wire leader from know on. Check out my last GT video from last week. Thanks again.

Is the solid ring necessary? Why couldn't I just attach the cord to the jig ?

awesome video ***** have a question in the kevlar tie its strong to make sure jigging for big amberjack tuna grouper and other big fish?
@keales95648 жыл бұрын
I guess I'm doing mine backwards... since I don't solid rings I was using a split ring on the assist hook, then split ring to lure. Big difference in connecting the assist hook to lure and assist hook to swivel? (your way I would eliminate the split ring right?)

great video,,very good. Just wondering what Kevlar you would recommend for 300-400g Naga's aiming for AJ's 50lbs combined with Shour 7/0's. Cheers

Captain Gainz Sorry for the late reply, we usually use Varivas SS Assist Line in number 40 or 50, which is around 200lbs.

A simple solution to the expense, and time-spent on assist hooks, is to go with a tail attached siwash style single hook on your jig. A siwash hook has a wide bend and deep throat for excellent retention after the hook-up. capt pete
@Hucklongfin6 жыл бұрын
I think a Siwash would bend out on a GT or doggie. They’re fine on smaller fish where you don’t want to use a split ring. I’d go with a Shout Kudako or Owner Jobu instead attached with a split ring. An assist hook is the way to go if you want a straight pull to the hook with the lure taken out of the equation. On the lure in the video you could use a small wire tie to secure the assist hook to the belly to keep it from flopping around until the fish takes it.
