Indian cuisine is all about herbs and spices. I think no other culture uses that much spices and herbs. I really LOVE that. It's not only suuuuper delicious but also healthy.

My favorite food!!! I keep watching my mother make it when she visits but can never get mine to taste the same. I will try your way. Is it possible to make it your way but without steaming it?

+pacharya100 Yes, some people just steam in the same pot as I showed making water and then adding flour on low flame...cook till done.

Hey Bhavna, We tried this today and all worked out ok, but the loat was so hard. I think we did not have papad kharo, can we use baking powder instead or ENO? Loved your recipe. My mom made it just like that.

I recommend baking soda not powder. Papad kharo is the key to make soft lot

I usually don’t spend much time cleaning steamer as I don’t use it to cook food directly, so I clean with dish washing soap only and wire scrub

A particular sect of south indians make something similar to this. We have a vrat festival called karadaiyan nombu,that falls on march 14 or 15th of every year and we make this rice flour stuff called nombu adai both sweet and savoury. Its something like karwa chaut fasting and praying for the husband's wellbeing and longevity.

Lovely recipe thank u ... i used baking soda instead of the papdi karo as did not have any at home. The baking soda made them very dry and not chewy at all I think it must be the baking soda unless ive done something else wrong ... any one else experience this with theres ?

Yes I myself actually made with baking soda last time as many of my viewers ask the alternative for papad khan and honestly it turned out so different than original recipe so some ingredients make big difference in recipes

first bf .. I don't put papad kharo,... I put small tapioca & let them get translucent.., makes khichiya item tasty & gummy ( only 2/3 tblsps)
