Who said you can't teach an old dog new tricks? I'm not exactly a dog (LOL), but I am a senior citizen and I think they are absolutely beautiful. I'm hitting the thrift stores and some of my sweaters that no longer fit me. You young ladies are so smart and sweet for sharing your ideas. I really appreciate it. Oh, you are well spoken, very clear and just very thorough with your instructions. I'm off to get some fabric glue!

What kind of fabric glue do you use? I'm so excited for this. Leg warmers cost a fortune these days!
@woodswalker886 жыл бұрын
aren't you going to finish the raw edge at the top?
@1toshi3210 жыл бұрын
I always have trouble with cold knees. I suppose you could extend the warmers by picking up the stitches at the top of the warmers and adding length with cheap acrylic wool. By the way, did you glue the top of the leg warmers in the same way as you glued the length of the legs or did you have to sew them over to avoid the stitches unraveling?
@TheKateeMeow10 жыл бұрын
Elizabeth Butt I think it's a great idea to fold over the top part so it doesn't unravel.. I know it's no-sew, but if you have a sewing machine, sewing the top over would work too :) As for leg warmers to cover your knees, have you tried just using extra fabric from the cut-up sweater to make an extra section on the top?

I am a ballet dancer so this is really useful

Thank you for taking the trouble to send me a reply. Sewing on extra material would probably work. The material is flexible so should bend with the knees while walking or sitting. Thanks again for the reply.

Does fabric glue really work that well!?? How does it last for washing and drying? Because this is awesome and I wanna try it!
@TheKateeMeow9 жыл бұрын
The fabric glue works really well! It binds fabric together and even after washing it, it leaves a strong bond. I have used fabric glue for many projects, threw the items in the wash and they are all still intact :) p.s. read the instructions on your fabric glue bottle, mine says washable after 48 hours

Faith McKeown do you use nail polish? I find when I use nail polish and especially nail polish remover, they break so I just stopped using that stuff and it really helps.
@faithm200010 жыл бұрын
I was using it alllll the time for about a year or two and then I stopped early this year and its helped, but i'm really into nail art so I hope my nails are gonna stay okay so I can go back to that (: TheKateeMeow

Exactly! And to the other comment, socks don't fit like leg warmers. A better technique would be to cut it out, try it on and pin it, then sew.

would a hot glue gun work? please reply

+Madison Morris I have never tried it myself, but other people have told me they tried it with a hot glue gun and that it worked for them. Good luck!

can you use a hot glue gun??
@TheKateeMeow10 жыл бұрын
You could use hot glue, but when it dries it is very hard. When it cools it could become more rigid and uncomfortable. I would suggest you try it on a small piece first and see what happens.
@TheKateeMeow10 жыл бұрын
Richard Palmer I don't know if you ever tried this or not, but I got a chance to try it out with a hot glue gun and it works the same as fabric glue.
