How to make lipstick: DIY Homemade Natural Lipsticks

Jojoba oil
Grapeseed oil

I have tired several recipes for lipsticks over the past few years, I was so disappointed, then I came across yours from 8 yrs ago and let me tell you, I absolutely LOVE IT!!! it is simple, natural and it worked, I did a little subbing on the beeswax to make it vegan but honey, I absolutely love it and thank you so much for making something so simple come out so amazing

okay anyone please correct me if wrong.. if i'm not wrong, since the castor oil provided the "shine-factor", u can trade it away for a matte lipstick. if u want a super intense color, i recommend you add titanium dioxide and pigment powder instead of mica. as for consistency, im still working to find the perfect one! besides, everybody likes their lipsticks a little differently. i can't show a recipe without "triggering" and trolls. so pls adjust to ur liking. :) hope it helps.

I can't find grapeseed oil anywhere where I live😞 Also the where do I get that pigment from and how long do the lipstick last as in a year? Pink Heart This reply is a yr later lol but I’m here to help. You can substitute Jajoba oil for Extra Virgin Olive Oil and Grape Seed Oil can be substituted for Coconut oil or Avocado oil.

ok great ! I am going to stick to the oils for lipsticks and lipgloss but I'll use the shea butters and cocoa butters for lip butters and lip balms. This is just great ! Keep up the excellent work

hee. glad u liked it. you can tweak the recipe to suit your own likings. also, try other oils and butters. eg. coconut oil, avocado oil, shea butter, cocoa butter..etc

its really up to you. depending on what kinda of lipsticks you prefer. i made these for some friends and they prefer softer lipsticks which glides on lips smoothly. i do know of some ppl who likes harder ones. in that case, just use more wax.

well yes. i started out with the lipstick base too, but i didnt like the texture of it. in fact, none of my friends who tried them liked it. anyway i've always liked making things from scratch so i started researching on how to make the lipstick base on my own. n i was lucky to find a few sources! i tried them out and they turned out pretty good. :)

yes you're right! if i added titanium dioxide, the colour would be more opaque too. :D

You can melt and mix your old lipstick stubs, creating a new color in the process, and make new lipsticks with the mold.

hi sorry its been a while since i made this video. you can decide how much u want to add! add less for a sheer colour and add more to get a more intense colour. also, it depends on the mica you have on hand. maybe about a teaspoon in total for this recipe. also, if you are using pigment powder, then maybe about 1/4 tsp. just do the "try and error" thing. hope it helps! :D

For matte-r lipstick, I would avoid using castor oil as it has a glossy finish. It also depends on the mica powder (colourant) you use.

You may use Titainum Dioxide (Ti02), silica or zinc oxide (Zn02)

Emma you can purchase some at a local crafts store such as Michaels they will usually have it in the candle section

to show the whole batch turned out okay and even! and to show how the color will show on the skin :D

Its castor oil. I oil each hole of the mold with a drop of oil to help release the bullets. Hope it helps! :D

use matt pigment. the mica i used has shimmer. if you want really matt lipstick, use red iron oxide. :)

less oil might help the greasy part. if you want the colour to "pop" (bolder) add titanium dioxide to "intensify" the colour. but keep in mind that might lighten the colour. hope it helps! :D

i think u can use any oil u like. just watch out for their shelf life. also, the texture. in some colder countries, coconut oil will be semi-solid. from where i am, it looks just like the other oils.

I thought it should have candelilla wax for solid lipstick also Is it possible to use olive emulsifying wax or tucuma butter instead of bee wax? I bought to many ingredients and waisted my money to make lipstick. I made it today, but my lip get dry. Also I used Jamaican black castor oil and oslove organic face and body oil. I'd put some preservative in there to prevent any microbial spoilage, and an antioxidant like vitamin E to prevent rancidity of the oils

well, wax is one of the ingredients. u melt everything, including the wax. so when the wax hardens, it holds the oils together. u can wait for it to cool down, or put it in the fridge/freezer.
