Cody I live in an Apartment in a Suburb of Ohio and Sir I've really loved watching these videos from beginning to this one regarding you helping your neighbor with his Trees and especially the Milling Process of the Trees, I really have, it's fascinating to see how you gentlemen have Milled those Trees like that, again this is from a guy who's never experienced ANYTHING like that before, my background was in Law Enforcement with the City I live in as a Policeman, so seeing you do this is well again fun to watch and fascinating to me. Thank you again for another great video on this Subject. I look forward to the NEXT great Adventure Sir.

Faithful are the wounds of a friend... {insert sigh} as much as I have watched you emphasize safety to your son and your viewers, my kids who help me on our micro-homestead just watched you 'ride the log's.' I have on past occasion told them no to such activity because of the potential dangers involved . I am now explaining that just because Mr. W. is a professional with years of experience teaching young men the importance of strict adherence to safety, that doesn't mean he is perfect and that we should now pray without ceasing for God's mercy for him and the rest of his viewers many of which watch his video's as part of a homeschool discipline . 10 of these homeschoolers are my children as well as other children whos families are in our circle of influence. Well... I have ridden this log long enough , I am still a loyal fan, and just cuz mama burned the biscuits dont mean I stop eating.

Cody, I know you love that Lucas mill, but it would drive me nuts! We just milled 76 logs in three days on a Woodmizer - about the same size as the ones you're working through, mixed posts, beams, dimensional lumber and inch board. We did, however, have the advantage of three guys and two tractors to load logs and cart material away. Enjoyed the video and seeing how other machines work. Thanks!

I used to mill 7 to 10 logs every evening after work, with my son and wife on our 827 Lucas we got 13 years back. You can make a lot of lumber in a few hours. I just roll them into 3 notched 8 x 8' s ( slight downhill on the outside bearers, and a pry bar up to about 24 inches. Over that, I'll raise the mill and carry in on the forks) the middle one for a wedge to support the center over 10 feet, rail tracks set at 17 feet so I can roll in 16's, they drop in, wedge it with some pine, line up the head to optimize and cut. Plus, I've done 50 inch oak...took lumber off the top, flipped on the forks, machined the bearers, set the flat side down. took lumber off the other side and wound up with a 6 inch thick bar top 16 feet long for my neighbor. Local band mills wouldn't touch it as it was over 36 wide. Took about 4 hours. Blew his mind. made many bar tops like this, trimming both side or leaving bark. Skim it with the blade and it looks milled. Took 6 guys to lift it onto his horses for drying. Plus I have the 'weatherboard' beveled siding attachment and the slabber. Many homes and garages around here have our beveled siding. Finally put it on our house as it's really nice. The blade can be angled and you get tapered pieces every cut cycle.. Super fast...love cutting it.. Closed the business a few years ago when my son got married. I just mill for fun now, or stuff the local band mills can't do. Or my son in law..8 x 8 x 16 wet hemlock yesterday...HEAVY!!! A swingblade (Peterson is thier main competitor) is more of a planer mill than a saw, and the Peterson can cut 8 x 16 easy. I removed a guard so I can cut 2 1/4 x 16 after leveling the blade, and cutting on the other side on the way back. Learned a lot over the years. 2 x 12's are easy. With a nice young feller to pick them off the log!!!

I like smaller saws now like the one you took the branch stumps off the tree with. My dad has/had an old Husqvarna but the crank and piston died in it. And I have also an older model stihl. Both saws are one of the larger models. I jsut bought a new Ms170 from stihl at a flee market. I use that thing for everything. So much lighter and convenient.

Some nice timber. Lucas is a superb machine. I believe you are supposed to press the lock lever when winding up also. Not just wind it up at the start as you did. Wears the mechanism out and should be in your manual. Also wide horizontal cuts 8", are better done in two passes, stops the blade getting packed with sawdust and rising up. Some great scenery and good video.

@toulouse666 That's hardly surprising as there are at least 420 million people in the World who speak Arabic as their first language, making it the sixth most popular language in the World. Sweden has a population of 9.9 million people - the vast majority of them are fluent in English, so it's not difficult to imagine that you're far, far more likely to hear someone speaking Arabic anywhere in the World, (outside of Sweden) . Although Sweden has it's own significant issues with immigration, so who knows what the current situation is in Sweden.

Well, not really... The name Husqvarna (witch is an old spelling of the town Huskvarna) comes from the Mill that stood near the river Husån or Huskvarnaån. the river was before called Humlarumlaån, which got its name from the nearby castle Rumlaborgs Hus. The mill was called "Huskvarnen", the "a" in Huskvarna is dialectal, they pronounced it as "Huskvarna". And if you want to say "the house where the mill is" you would probably say "kvarnhus" instead of "huskvarn".
@Weirdyzz
@Weirdyzz 5 жыл бұрын
”Hus” means house and ”kvarn” means Mill. But Husqvarna is the name of an area/region/village/city It was spelled with an q until the early 1900s, but today is spelled Huskvarna

Hi, I have two questions for you and a clarification about Husqvarna. The questions are. How come you could not saw a bord at the bottom of the log. Is it too wobbly when it is soo little wood left or did you lay it on to low support beams? Don't you feel it is a bit unsafe to walk so close to a live cutting blade walking over beams on the ground? Have you thought about adding some kind in push rod to get you a bit away from it? And about Husqvarna. As your friend said in the movie the name is made up of two parts. Hus is not from the modern word for House. Hus here stems from the middle age term Keep or Castle. Qvarna that is the word for grain mill. So that is the history behind the towns name. Later the water flow was used to setup the industry that took on the name Husqvarna we know today.
