I love the mug and your design but... carving is the most fun part of Mishima for me. I know it's a bit messy but carving gives me joy. ❤️😁

Awesome work,, how did you glaze the inside? I just love your work, amazing...
@annruel19824 жыл бұрын
Hi Connie. Thanks for the kind words. I used a large brush and brushed the glaze on the inside. :-)

Hey Anne. The glaze you used for the red and black. Were they underglazes?
@CeeJayKay3 жыл бұрын
Would you get the same results if you painted the background glaze first and then painted the black line over that when dry?
@annruel91423 жыл бұрын
Hi Carol. If you paint the black lines over the glaze, I find that the black will bleed a bit into the glaze so that you dont get that nice straight line. Actually that technique would be really cool for illustrations that may need more fuzzy black outlines.

How do you know when the painted on glaze is thick enough? I painted on a clear coat recently and it wasn't the right thickness. I was told three coats now.

No hard and fast rules - a lot depends on the color and type of glaze. If you are talking about the final glazing (vs underglaze) I would defer to the glaze manufacturer as there are many variables like cone and type of clay etc. you are firing to. Most the the glazes I use suggest 3 coats.

Great video as always, Ann! Do you put on more than one coat of your glaze? Lots of work!
@annruel19824 жыл бұрын
Thanks Janet. I apply enough glaze to puddle when applied. I keep an eye on it and if I can still see the clay through the glaze, I know I need to apply another coat. thanks for asking.

It is a pleasure to watch you working at your beautiful pieces. A question: do you put 1 layer of glaze , instead of 3, because the glaze is thick enough after 1 passage?
@LittleStreetPottery2 жыл бұрын
Yes, for final glaze on these pieces I just put on one layer of my white liner glaze. Thanks for watching!

Lovely work, you make it look so easy! What kind of clay do you use? It's such a low fire for any stoneware I use. Thank you :)

Thanks! We use Standard 365 English Porcelain. Hard to find sometimes...we have to drive a couple hours to purchase.

How to make mishima without the mess? By not doing mishima. You just painted the mug, there's no inlay and it doesn't look like there is. I thought I was going to see a great technique.
