hey man really cool stuff and so nice of you to take the time to teach others. I have been doing something similar and have a suggestion that might improve your workflow. in premiere after you scale up, instead of cutting every frame individually in the timeline, use it just as one long block, just animate the position. this way after you have done it once, you can now always just copy paste the animation keyframes to all your future scans too. instant results every time. (obviously gotta be consistent in number of frames, and accurate in how you position the frames in photoshop) good shit man easy sub

hey thank you for the kind words and suggestions!! That is a great tip - I’ve done that before but I’m not quite great at making sure my scans are the same position each time 😅 but I could just overlay them in photoshop after scanning to make sure they’re properly aligned - that’s a great idea!! Thank you

@@DUMBDAYS Hey! I have a question. I'm at the stage where I've got my page of frames (12) using your 1920 by 1080 Normal template in Premiere. I'm able to drag the first scan photo into a sequence and move it around to capture the first frame, but when I paste the same scan next to it, the image is black and I can no longer edit it. I'm (obviously) new to using Premiere, so any help would be totally appreciated! I've tried to google the solution but with no luck...

@@BeeEigenMusichey! if I’m understanding what you’re saying correctly - when you’re in your sequence and have your first frame set up, hold down option (or it might be control) and click and drag the clip next to it to duplicate it. Then try adjusting the position on that one. Does that work?

Hi! thank you so much for this video. Cannot express how grateful I am to be able to try a new creative medium and not feel like it's beyond my reach to learn :) I have a question, can I use another program besides Photoshop to organize the pics? I have procreate, could that work? or a free program or Photoshop is the best? thank you! :):)
@DUMBDAYS
@DUMBDAYS 4 ай бұрын
hey! yeah there's definitely alternative ways you can organize the frames - procreate can work although it might make the process longer, but any sort of photo editing software can work - again if youre doing it on PC you can just do it by selecting all the files and hitting print, itll auto frame them!

This is an awesome video!! this might sound really silly but could you explain the process of "holding each image for one frame" - my film is 24 frames - and I want it to be more smooth and not too much stop start. When I go to get it there will just be more frames right? long story short. So I should export with 24 frames? Or would 12 be better - 24 might take a load of time
@DUMBDAYS
@DUMBDAYS 3 ай бұрын
hey! so in premiere whenever you click the right or left arrow key in your sequence it moves a frame. having an image one frame long in a 24fps sequence would make it last one frame - that would make it super smooth, making the animation 24fps. If you want something that still feels animated but isn't too choppy, I would recommend making your animation 12fps, which means holding it for TWO frames in a 24fps sequence. I would recommend 12fps personally. So you export the images at 12fps, and then when you bring it back into your timeline you hold each one for two frames (which means the length of hitting the arrow two times to the right or left) all while still in a 24fps timeline! hope that makes sense.

This video was extremely helpful. Something I'm a little confused about though is how to add the scans up to form a video, will each scan be 1 millisecond?
@DUMBDAYS
@DUMBDAYS Жыл бұрын
thank you! Glad you enjoyed it :) how long each frame needs to last depends on the frame rate you chose - if you’re unsure, you can use the nesting trick I talked about. Put each still for a single frame above the section you exported, nest it and use the time stretch tool to make it fill the section of your exported video ! That’ll match it up. But otherwise take your frame rate you chose (say 8fps) and make it fit into 24 fps (assuming that’s your sequence setting). So 8 fps means each still last 3 frames!
