Get a denim needle so you can go faster. It also helps to use a seam ripper and take off the wasteband while you take in the back seam, then put the waistband back. Less bulk under the machine.

Honestly any jeans that have a tapered leg and high waist were considered mom jeans in the 2000s, they were called this because the teenagers that wore them in the 80s and 90s were moms in the 2000s and continued to wear them as they were out of style. Boyfriend jeans are usually baggy and low slung.
