I'm introverted yet I can be outgoing once I am comfortable with new people. I have had folks talk badly about me for it, so the *less* friends I make the better.

Same ! I’m an introvert but really fun, people just like to misjudge me for no reason, or because I don’t fit in any of the boxes they know. When people talk sh!t about me it hurts because I never expect it

I love making new friends. I get a little sad when I really get along with someone but they don’t have time. I love your advice about doing activities you like and meeting people there. I use to take dance and art classes. A lot of those relationships didn’t develop past Instagram. I understand a lot people already have their friend groups tho. I’m appreciating the time I spend alone these days. Sometimes people pass by just for that day and that’s okay too 😅. One thing I hear a lot is people wanting genuine connections, but never put any effort. Such a shame.

If someone doesn't honestly have the time or makes the time for u for like months straight of even texting or calling u to check in and they are local just delete them from ur life and don't focus on them since they aren't worth it and find someone new. The effort they make is always proof on how much they like and or love you. No effort= not caring

Loved this. As I get older being 40 it's so hard to trust making new friends. But it's so refreshing that we can really allow God to guide us to the right people. ❤

Maya, your videos are so empowering and compassionate. I feel like this message was made for me! Yes, to surrendering to the grace of God and acknowledging toxic behavior. Yes, embracing new friendships as we mature in life. Yes, to valuing time and prioritizing commitments to self care, spiritual life and creative projects. Thank You!

This video is so timely for me, Maya. I was just going down a rabbit hole today wondering why it was so hard to maintain a particular relationship (a friend from childhood) and this video brought me a lot of clarity and reassurance. I definitely need to work on the "managing expectations" part as I am an empath and feel hurt when my care for someone is not reciprocated. Anywho, you hit the nail on the head. Thank you for allowing God to use you through this channel!

I’m an empath too and you described that reciprocation part so well. I don’t ask for much but people seem to do the bare minimum in friendships these days.
@medline5140

I can defiantly relate! I let go of a childhood friendship because I shouldn't have to question a friend's loyalty to me, and I felt like the friendship was declining anyways. I'm big on reciprocation. The people I am meeting these days are coming into my life to take away my time, money, and energy, and I refuse to make those mistakes again. Now, I am more focused on myself and trusting God to bring and make room in my life for the right people to come. I realize that it's okay to let go of friendships regardless of "how long you've known them."

I loved this video! Thank you for sharing your tips! I've been introverted and to myself for yearrrssss. I recently made the decision to get out there and meet new people but being in my forties now, I wasn't sure how to go about it! I've made some friends about a year ago but they fell off, I think because I still had some inner work to do. Once I did that, the relationships didn't last. Now I'm just over here doing me and praying for things to happen for me organically. God is in control and I'm cool with that. (Left a similar comment on FB btw ha ha)

I've realised making friends is a lifelong skill no matter the age (one of my divorved parents in their 60s now has no friends). As an introvert, its hard to make the first step sometimes and its seems easier to just stick to one set of friends but you cant put all your expectation on one friend/friendship! Thanks for this video Maya and teaching us its still possible to make friends at any age! 💞

I thank God that you made this video Maya. For a long time my family members have admitted that they don’t feel connected to me in any important way and I was told again today at my 27th birthday party. It really hurt my feelings and made me begin to evaluate myself with God. I think He led me to remember that you posted this video & I feel like it helped me understand what others may be experiencing of me. Even though it wasn’t very deep, it was enough. So thank you Maya for sharing with me! 💕

Some people think entering a friendship is like entering a marriage. They will put boundaries for no reason. For me a friend is someone positive, that I care about, that I enjoy spending time with who I can trust and vice versa. That’s it

I am 39 and Ironically I have made quite a few younger friends that are healthy friendships. I think the maturity comes from christ as I only make "equally yoked" friends. or those that want to get to know Jesus. My quality of friendships has drastically changed for the better and because of it, I have gotten closer to God and learned a lot about boundaries and discernment.

The way you vibe and glow at 2:13, i want that ... The real question is how to make people friend with you when you are an autist 😂 i got the jackpot by being an extravert autist, I can make contact with people easily, but I feel stuck in a game that's not my own and end up being alone in a crowd. Nobody gonna comes to my world and that's dispiriting, especially when I express anxiety, sadness or distress, people get mad or downright angry at me, so much for friends 😅

Love seeing your relationship with God grow 🥹 it’s beautiful and makes me think fondly of my own faith walk. As a 30yo mama pregnant with my 3rd baby and in a season of isolation (for mostly good reasons, like stepping back from burning myself out from work) it can be a bit lonely. But I am learning to enjoy this much needed slower season I’m in now. Thanks for the reminders that God will bring the right friendships along💜
