Hey, just love the way it's been made and wow you had lot of patience for all the moss and the plants to grow before u add the shrimp... But I have few questions, hope you clear it 1. Did you do water changes , what was the water change periods so far 2. I can see fungus on the woods at the top, how do you deal with it 3. How powerful the lights should be for 9 hours a day
@AquascapingCube8 ай бұрын
Thank you! 1) Very little changes, and not very often. For shrimp every 3-4 weeks is enough, and I keep them very small (10-15%). 2) I did nothing ;) And it went away, it always does after a while. 3) For dry start - it can be VERY powerful, that is the point because you will not get algae. Once I filled it in with water, I kept it relatively weak. 6W LED at 60% if I remember correctly.

@mekiwi123 Жыл бұрын
I just started a tank based on this video. It's a 30x18x24. Used lavarock, as you did. Two mistakes I foresee; I didn't cut the moss small enough, and didn't have a brush, so I expect there to be patches rather than full coverage. But judging by your video, it will spread quick enough. For the carpet, I'm thinking of montecarlo instead of the grass. Thoughts? Also, am I correct that you added the shrimp only two weeks after filling the tank?
@AquascapingCube Жыл бұрын
Yes, after 2 weeks all was good for the shrimp to move in. But I was running small filter during that period to kick start the tank. I took it out before they moved in. Monte carlo should be ok. You just have to be more careful with light because monte carlo requires little more than grass. And finally: be very careful when you fill the tank: all bigger pieces of moss might float because they will not attach to lava rocks that fast. If you see this happen, stop and wait longer for the moss to really hold to the rocks. Good luck!

How many shrimps would be wise to add to a 25 liter tank? And kudos for the video !
@AquascapingCube7 ай бұрын
Thank you! You can put 15-20 shrimp for the start - they will breed quite fast. For the CO2 - it's really optional, depending on the plant types you have in your tank. @@AquascapingCubeThank you! And one more thing I'm interested in. What are the name of the plants that are sticking out of the tank? I really like the finished look with the whole "wall of plants" that is sticking out of and is behind the thank.

@@AquascapingCube Thank you! By the way I just got my Aquael Leddy lamp and I notice that there are 3 light modes, what would you recommend - should I use all of the light modes or maybe just use the day mode for like 8 to 9 hours a day?
@AquascapingCube Жыл бұрын
@@andongrozev6783 Just day mode. I will be more than enough! If you will get any algae issues just cut the hours to 7 a day.

I want to do something like this!! What is the upkeep like? how often do you feed? change water?
@AquascapingCube Жыл бұрын
It's not problematic. I feed 3 times/week. I don' t make any water changes, just adding water that evaporates. The only problem I had was the moss taking over the tank - because it grows EVERYWHERE :)

6:20 - Damn thats clever, to think I've just been sticking my moss in like a mug!

Hi, I have a question. Will the flame moss stick to the rock even if I just cut it into pieces and don't use crushed substrate?
@AquascapingCube Жыл бұрын
It should. It will take some time, but it will hold if you use proper rocks (very rough surface). If you are worried - you can use cotton thread to keep it in place, it will not be visible after some time.

This tank turned out so gorgeous! The moss paste application looks so easy to do- I must try it. Also, and this might sound like a stupid question, but could you apply moss to driftwood in this way? I can't think of any reason why not, but I'm a self-professed fish nerd who has only recently learned how to stop killing my anubias.
@AquascapingCube Жыл бұрын
Thank you! Yes you can do it with drift wood - I'm planning to create something like this in near future. The only thing to remember is to use wood with rough surface, so the moss can attach itself.
@meganmoore3432 Жыл бұрын
@@AquascapingCube That's great to hear! The piece of wood I have in mind is actually covered in little nooks and crannies, so that's quite fortuitous. And oooh- that project sounds interesting! I will be staying tuned.

when filling up the tank, should i use tap water or distilled water? i plan to add shrimps after cycling the tank, so distilled water seems to be the right choice, but ive also heard that distilled water severely damages my aquatic plants? so im not too sure how to start
@AquascapingCube9 ай бұрын
I always just just regular tap water. With shrimp it depends on what kind you want to keep. Neocaridina are much better for beginners (and the ones you see there in the video), they will be fine with tap water. RO water is needed for Caridina shrimp that have different needs for water parameters.

do you leave the lights open (w/o turning them off) when growing the moss for 2 weeks?
@AquascapingCube Жыл бұрын
I have them ON for 10h/day.

I’m sure this won’t get seen or answered but how did you get your plants to transition from humid air growth to fully submersed in 2 weeks without any die off AND it being a “low maintenance” tank? Are you using any ferts or co2 diffusion? Am I missing something here?
@AquascapingCube7 ай бұрын
I had no problems with transition. Only a little bit with hair grass, but moss just started growing very well. And I was not using CO2 or any fertilizers at the beginning. I was just making small water changes and it was enough :)

Hi you have given me advice before I got really inspired by you video and given it a go using all the same as you it’s been a week and half and it still looks the same as I first set it up can it take longer than yours did or am I doing something wrong thanks a lot in advance
@AquascapingCube Жыл бұрын
Hi. Don't worry, it takes time. Patience is the key! Sometimes I get different results when I take plants from different suppliers, you can have different light intensity, water quality etc. Try this: place a phone in front of your tank and make a picture, and then do the same 1 week later, and then another. And compare the results. You might get surprised ;) When you look at your tank every day - it looks the same, but over longer period - you can see ther it all works, just takes time. Good luck and let me know how it goes!

@AquascapingCube3 ай бұрын
You should always run filter 24/7 if you have one in your tank :)

how ofter do you do water changes and stuff considering no filter. I plan to set up a large 6 plus gallon vase I have as a no filter shrimp and snail tank just like this.
@AquascapingCube9 ай бұрын
I only made water changes at the beginning. After tanks stabilizes - I only top off the water that evaporates. Never had any issues with that :)
