Im trying to make an emergency hand crank phone charger from a microwave motor connected to a standard USB cable. I would think I just need the positive and negative wires inside. (The red and black) but what is the process to deal with the green and white? I tried to just twist the green and white together and crank but that didn't show a charge. I can turn on a LED lamp with the motor so I know it works. Do I need to actually remove them from the end that plugs into the phone? I know very little about electrical but I am really wanting to learn.

i made a USB OTG cable by shorting pin 4 to pin 5 just like you did, i connected a wireless mouse successfully ... out of curiosity i used the multimeter to check the voltage on the OTG cable and my phone just went dead !!! Why did this happen ?

You're welcome ♥ 》》 Some cables pins protections are pretty hard to be opened or maybe solid from inside that's why you can't open it, look for a cable like the one i used in the video, it's pretty easy to open it.

Ok let's determine where the people is ... First : you have to know whether your phone supports OTG cables or not, you can check that out using this app : goo.gl/4hDaqh If it supports OTG cables, then : - Get a flash driver that has a led indicator then plug it in the OTG cable and plug the OTG cable in the phone ... - If the led lighted up, then we're ok with shorting the two pins and that's a positive sign ... now all you have to do is to recheck your soldering at the female USB and surely the problem will be there ( also make sure that the wires at the micro USB end are ok and nothing got cut by mistake ) - But if the led didn't light up, then the problem is with the two pins at the micro usb end ... so you have to recheck them and make sure they are soldered together ... ☆ Hope that will help 😀
