Honestly I'm kinda with you on that, if it weren't for the sheer portability of diatonics I don't think I would care too much about learning any kind of bends/overs, so far with draw bends (the only ones that don't require modifying the harmonica itself to stop torsional vibration or whatnot) I still can't even get past a half step bend.
