That is fascinating! It's also quite interesting how the style of producing manuscripts spread throughout South and SE Asia as well, and how you can see the influence of it in the sorts of scripts used.

Just like students don't make paper from scratch, writers back then didn't make manuscripts from scratch either. Craftsmen and women did that part .

@@Some_guy_passing_byyou're very perceptive sir, I agree with you - surplus labour work was relegated to those who could be exploited at quite discounted rate, the writers did not labour to create the condition of possibility of his own work.

Whenever I talk about the greatness of our ancient people some random people come and comment like if they were so knowledgeable then why did they write on palm leaves and not discovered paper......I tried to find the reason on internet but never found satisfactory results that why our ancient sages who had great wisdom couldn't discovered Paper....then I researched about making of palm leaves before writing, then I concluded that they have made these palm leaves so strategically so that they can preserve their writings for centuries....if they have written it on paper it must have been destroyed early.....I don't know if my hypothesis is correct or not, but I truly believe that their must have been a solid reason behind writing on palm leaves and not on paper. Well thanks for making this video.. it's really great feeling to watch ancient things making in modern era.
