Thank you so much for your video, i think its really underappreciated how important it is to be able to do good smears and how difficult for a lot of techs and med students when getting started. I work in a reference lab and we get a LOT of horrible smears ^^ I wish i could reference your video to them😂

I know. It is an art, and some days you just have to roll with the smears that you get. But I have come across a couple of samples where the blood was just bad and we just had to deal with it. 😅 Thank you for the kind words they are much appreciated. 😊

I recently practice blood smearing since im a medtech student, the third one is how i do it even if i dont have shaky hands cause it allows me to have more control without exhausting my fingers haha. Thank you for the video! New subscriber here. PS: Please do a "whats in my tackle box/medtech box" or "medtech essentials". 💕

Great videos! Please make videos about hematology discrepancies(i.e when the analyzer flags results)Thanks, Rea Nav!

Thanks I have just been putting cover slides on my slides without spreading and it’s so hard to view the blood lol

I'm definitely going to try this! I waste so many slides practicing making slides. I always get fangs! I'm going to try using a smaller drop of blood and going slower.

Is blood smear taking from bone marrow or just simple blood test.. im so sorry for asking hope you can help this..
@ReaNav3 жыл бұрын
Hi! This is a whole blood sample from an EDTA tube. Bone marrow smears look completely different and the technique of making them is different as well. Yes, the blood smears are done to check and compare that the CBCD blood test (Complete blood count with differential) results from the analyzer are comparable to the morphology and cell population on the blood smear. Don’t apologize, your question is a good one. I hope this helped you.

I'm concerned about the third method, i mean sure it does work, but please careful not to touch the blood at the side of the smearing slide with your gloves, we don't want any contamination of our specimen☺️

I thought I was the only one who have this problem 😂 I’m also cannot do this with my shaky hand and I use the third method but still fail some time btw i’m watching this to gain confident for my upcoming exam🤣

Goodluck on your exam as long as you are trying and practicing that’s what matters, the technique will follow. 😁

The samples of blood you work with look really dilute :o
@ReaNav4 жыл бұрын
If you look at the dropper carefully, you can see how sticky the blood is, dilute blood wouldn't be as sticky, these slides were made straight from an EDTA tube with a plastic pipette. It is not enough lighting, that made it a challenge to show the gradient of the smear.
