A few years ago, I made a bunch of these with pint-size jars and in each of them I was able to fit a small pair of scissors, a seam ripper, a bodkin, handfuls of buttons, measuring tape, a small tube of fabric glue, a pack of hand sewing needles, a small container of pins, clips like the ones you showed, hem tape (took it out of the package for it to fit), needle threader, small spools of thread, a few snaps and hooks...it made for fantastic gifts, even for people who don't often sew, because whenever they needed to make a small repair, they knew exactly where to look to find what they needed. (I made my top a bit differently---starting like you did, but pulling the basting thread to completely encircle the foam and cotton. I then glued this "ball" to the top of the metal lid.) I love your work, Vivian, keep sharing your creativity and talent with us!

Hi Vivian, I bought the same roll of lace at Walmart. This is a good project for the rainy day today. I love it. I have so much cotton left over from making your little blue pin cushion, which is my favorite that I use all the time. People always think it is store bought because it looks so good. This is pretty cool my sister. I have my clips in a little can, I put a magnet 🧲 on to for the pins. I like the pin cushion idea 💡 better.
