This is very cool! I 3D printed a Pokeball on my Ultimaker and spray painted the parts and glued them and it turned out amazing!

I just realized something!you could make 2 other pokeballs really easily. The premier ball is really simple to make as you just paint it all white and paint the inner bit red.and you could also make the net ball by painting it dark green and putting thin black foam on the ball,wrapping it around in an evenly kind of fashion.thank you for this AWSOME tutorial!ima sub to you :D

***** I don't think it would be easy to hollow out styrofoam and expect it to still not break, but maybe you could cover it with paper mache or something. Or cover it with tinfoil and cover the tinfoil with paper mache. Then it would be hollow and still much less likely to break. Might be too thin though.

U could do what everyone else says BUT after cutting and hollowing it put in a spring mechanism with the button to make it open when u press the button and paint the inside like the inside of pokeballs look like in the tv show and then put in a toy pokemon like a picachu or u could do that and paint a thunderbolt on the pokeball just above the blake line and put a toy pikachu in it would be a picachu starter pokemon ball thx for reading the entire thing if anyone did

The reason Pikachu won't go into it's ball is because Ash had the wrong ball. Pikachu's had a lightning decal.

4 years ago, I made one by myself without anyone's guidance. I used a GemsBall rubbed it on the sand paper, then I took 2-3 Newspaper tear them into small peices soak them in water, then I mixed a very Heavy amount of Glue with it, i tried to make it as sticky as I could. Then I started to stick those sticky pieces on the GemsBall, roll it in my hands and in clothespin order to give it a perfectly round shape. Then I cooked that ball in direct flame. And then put it under the sun so that every bit of moisture comes out from it. Then I painted it with regular Red and White paints and a Balck stick that surrounds the ball with a White stamp. Then I again painted it with thick transparent Glue and Water in order to make it scratch proof and also to maintain the contrast of the colour. That's it...! That DIY pokeball is still in very good condition. With zero scratch. Also it is really very very hard just like a rock.

You can sand the Styrofoam circle button. I use this stuff to make model houses and I sand the edges to make smoother curves. Use like a 80 or 100 grit sand paper(: go light. Also a gloss does well. And if you apply even pressure with your pencil, you can indent the black band.

They're all so similar that separate videos aren't necessary. The other balls are made by replacing the red top shell with a different color and then either cutting out the foam to be glued on or drawing a pattern with pencil and then painting it.

I used Mod Podge, works perfectly for adding a shine to pretty much any craft.

As an experienced crafter, I recommend resin. It will be tedious to work with however. Then find a glaze used for polymer clay. But it will be the best for durability and shine. +AliceCullen0890

looks good. I would have just put the fat rubber band in the middle and painted the red side and then the white one. that way it didnt take so long. the rubber band probably would hold the dime in place against the styrofoam ball?

I used those exact magnets but they are too strong, if you're not very careful once you try to attached the magnets together the one glued to your ball can come right off and take a chunk off the ball. So I just switched to Velcro adhesives and they work just as good but is full proof.

These are so awesome! The only thing which would make them even better would be to somehow add the other smaller circle inside the white button... I'm not sure how that would be possible though, maybe by scratching into the foam with a sharp tool to make an idented circle? I'd love to try making some of these :D

I have some of the powerful magnets shown. But those are about 4 for $8.00. I would recommend you use the less powerful black ones. They are a bit bigger, but the are about 8 for $4.00 and they will hold your pokeballs just fine.

Use clear plastic for the button, insert and led and a 3 volt battery. Connect the live, but not the ground. Run the ground out of the back and blend it into the black band. Wear a metal ring and now every time your ring makes contact with the ground, the button will glow.
