Note: You can change what entity you get when you spawn one in (For an Example, I have my default Entity in my TF2 setup to be prop_static.)

True. But to be fair though, info_player_start is usually the first entity I'd want in a map so I don't bother changing it. Thanks for the tip though.

Thank you SO much for this! This Is really helpful as I found It a bit difficult to understand how hammer works, but now I know! But why wouldn't you just make a level in the Portal 2 level creator, export it, Convert it to a VMF file, and then edit it? Just seems a bit more logical to me. But still Super awesome tutorial, Thank you!

bit late but the p2 level editor uses wayy too many func_instances and had really bad optimization so making it in Hammer is a way better idea

Why not just click the entity button, select whcih entity you want on the right hand side, then click in the viewport to place it. Generally does a good job at placing it and the right one from the start.

It doesn’t really matter what you do really. If you’ve found a method that’s easier than mine, I say go for it. This is just the method I do myself which works well enough.

Hey i want to know how long you have been mapping and how you learned how to do all of this

To be honest I've only been using this for about 5 months, which is why I was going to delay this series for at least a year or so but everyone was begging for me to do this series so here we are. But don't worry I know what I'm doing, (at least I think I do lol). I learnt mapping by watching many different tutorials on KZbin such as 3kliksphilip and TopHattWaffle but they really only mapped for games like csgo and I wanted to map for portal 2 and the only tutorial videos that were around were rubbish. So I stumbled across the Valve Developer Community which is actually really helpful, I suggest you go check it out if you have any problems. But yeah that's how I got into mapping.
