FXAA is a somewhat confusing setting as it's usually "more things ON = better looks," but FXAA is "Fast Approximate Anti-aliasing," which is essentially "prefer performance over quality," which is why enabling it makes things worse.

Enabling HDR lighting at all makes all the displays in the PMDG 737 a blurry mess. It makes my eyes ache after squinting at them for a few minutes. It's like there's a piece of wax paper over the screens or something. Have you had any issues like that?

How do you cope with VAS with your setting. When I start a flight (similar setting) with a HD plane (Carenado 525A) at the begging I have 1 GB left, at approach maybe 0,4 GB left and no chance for landing. No possibility to fly from Kastrup (FlyTampa) to Shiphol. Any idea?

Hey Matt or anyone else I know your busy but you said you not using NVIDIA inspector any more how are you getting no jaggies or shimmering in the cockpit or on the outside of the aircraft. NVIDIA inspector solves it but kills my fps with sparse Grid super sampling any ideas ?

Hello, Matt! I saw your video about 2016 settings optimization. I'm a video game aficionado and have spent days optimizing FSX/P3D, here's my advice. I’m using a 4770/770 and can max out everything, except for Hardware Tessellation (major villain!), Terrain Shadowing (major villain!), and Building/Vegetation Reflections/Shadows (adds up), while getting 30-60 fps depending on the situation. With your current set-up I would believe you should be able to have a lot higher settings and or fps! I’m new to this flight simulator and have only made a few basic flights over Europe, so I don’t know how this changes in after hours of flying in adverse weather, at high altitude, over denser vegetation or denser cities. However, based on my experience with FSX/P3D yet and games in general, you do not appear to be maxing out a few settings that have no impact on fps at all (Anisotropic filtering has zero impact in all games, as far as I’m aware), so I would encourage you to spend a day increasing or decreasing all settings one at a time and seeing if they have any impact on your system, and you can end up with great success!

Hey Matt. First of all nice video. Im a xplane user right now but Im planning to turn back to P3D as the weather engine with REX is too realistic. What do you recommend? Also I did some testing of P3D v3 and its performance. I get aprox 30 fps with clear skies and 20-25 with major thunderstorms (graphics maxed out). If I install ORBX, REX and use a PMDG how many fps drop can I experience? Thanks

However I use my mouse as opposed to a joystick when flying and now on the ground I cannot turn? I've just invested in P3D and noticed something strange, when I sent my display sliders all the way up to Dense or V Dense I get about 25/30 fps which is good for me, but when I put the sliders down to the mid sections/normal I only get about 15/20 fps!!! I can't figure that one out :-)

Suggestion regarding the Aircraft labels: Turn them off by default, if you are looking for an aircraft and cannot find it, press Ctrl+Alt+L to toggle the labels. Cheers

Hi Matt , the smallparticleradius=1 is a good add to the config so you can see objects further if playing multiplayer. Great vids mate. Do you have a rift ? Flyinside changes the way you "fly" and is super immersive :) keep up the great vids.

Thanks for the great video and links. I was struggling to get a steady 30fps at 4K until reading from Rob that Hyper-threading and P3D do not mix well. After switching HT off, I am now able to get a steady 30-40fps at 4K with the settings you provided. Interested in whether you run with HT on or off?

Today changed my old graphics card ATI5870 (which did an admirable job) to an EVGA 980ti which is fantastic.. I got all the settings as your video shows and its brilliant.. PMDG 737 is better, but still struggles.. but even 16 fps in city areas plays smoother than my old card...I've yet to change my cpu QX9650 3.0 Ghz.. although its easy to overclock to 3.6 ghz. I can also see texture loading bottlenecked by my older Mechanical drive as it stutters slightly as the hard drive is reading... so eventually i'll get an SSD for E drive.. Good fun though... still not tried it on my FSX install.. too busy fying!
