17:40 a rubber-coated baker's roller/rolling pin (dt. Teigroller) works great for that purpose. Just make sure to wipe off any glue which might squeeze out from between the cards and get onto the roller. A spray bottle of alcohol works great for that, as alcohol destroys the adhesive. When gluing pre-laminated paper, a roller is better for flattening than a hand because a hand has moisture on it which can smear the ink (depending largely on the paper and the printer, but mine smears badly). A roller is less prone to that sort of problem.

I use the gutter fold method, I print on label paper and stick it to 65lb cardstock, then laminate.

Thanks for coming back! I’ve always cut first then laminated. I’ve never known to laminate, cut then laminate again. Can’t wait to try that for my next PnP.

6:45 in addition to avoiding plastic rulers, i strongly recommend avoiding aluminum ones as well. A hobby knife will slowly peel of micro-layers of aluminum and the edge of the ruler will eventually become slightly uneven. A steel corked-backed ruler is the way to go. My number of mis-cuts caused by a slipped ruler dropped 95%+ after switching to a cork-backed one. One hack to create a no-slip back for a ruler which doesn't have one is to cover the bottom of the ruler with electrical tape or duct tape, but that doesn't work as well as cork.

8:30 i feel compelled to point out that some corner rounders will die rather quickly when used on lamination. My small-model one (similar to yours) really hates lamination but i've got a "real" corner cutter ("Warrior" model) which chews through whole stacks of laminated cards like butter. 10:00 i'm soooo glad to see you run the cards through the laminator after cutting them. i only recently independently came to try that out and it's definitely an improvement. i run mine 3-4 times, from both sides and orientations.

Hi Livi. Thank you very much for this video. Up until now I made cards using the gutter fold method as described on the dining table pnp. With the celebration with "Sinterklaas" in the Netherlands, Christmas was early this year and the old fella got me a laminator. This is so much easier and faster, even when pulling them through the laminator several times. I like that the cards are quite springy due to the lamination. And I don´t have to use lacquer any more which is a smelly business and depends on the weather as I have to do it outside. I experimented with glossy and matt lamination and I like the latter better as this doesn't give reflection, while the glossy does. I made a photo for comparison but don't think I can upload it here in the comments. I am still looking for a way to use the laminator for making player boards/trackers...

Another lamination hint which i learned in another video: if your laminator has multiple thickness settings, use the highest one even when using thinner lamination. The theory is that that applies yet more heat. e.g. mine has a switch for 80 micro and 125 micro, so i use the 125 setting even with 80 micron lamination.

16:30 glue sticks: FWIW, i've had best results with Pelikan, Pritt, and Uhu. i tried Elmers Purple (which applies purple but dries transparently, making it easy to see where the glue has already been applied) but it truly doesn't work well, at least for cards. i recently had to go repair several dozen cards after the Elmers glue came undone after laminating the cards. Repairing cards without damaging them is a huge pain in the butt.

Thank you so much for this really helpful video and your beautiful warm presence🙏😊! I'm looking forward learning how to make marker and tokens, especially round ones, which is really tricky😏. I've done a lot of custom made cards, for example for marvel champions and had exactly the shown problems, but now I will laminate them again, that should help😊.

Good video, thanks. Re-laminating the cards looks interesting. When cutting, I cut the side I want to look good (front) otherwise it would drive me nuts when I look at them. Scoring paper, I use a spent (no ink) pen to make the score. A dull knife would work.

Thank you very much! Wow, it's a lot of time laminating so many times per card. I wish there was a shortcut there, specially on huge pnps

Yes, my method can be a bit time-consuming. You can always omit a few passes through the laminator if you'd like to speed things up, and your cards will still probably be pretty solid. I personally feel like the extra time and attention pays off in the long run, though.

Nice video. I also learned something to improve my PnP skills. I only missed the method with self-adhesive labels if you do not have a duplex printer, but do not want to use glue. But I think it is not possible to cover all hundreds of different methods to create PnP Cards. I hope to see soon more videos, especially the promised one about counters.

I really had the issue with the border of the cards peel off. Now I tried to laminate the cutted card multiple times and this fixed my issue. Thank you for this hint.

But what application you have used on PC in order to make this collage of multiple cards that you've printed? Seems like everyone is missing this step in every tutorial...

I find when using a paper cutter, I can’t accurately gauge where the cut will fall precisely and end up with cards that aren’t all the same size- it’s only 1-2mm, but it is enough to be annoying- what do you do to avoid that or is it just that my cutter is bad?
@soloadventureswithlivi1108
@soloadventureswithlivi1108 2 жыл бұрын
The key is to always either press the blade toward or away from the ruler part so there isn't any wiggle room. I do admit that it takes practice to figure out exactly a cutter will work though.
