How to make Proxy files for Quicker editing
In this video I demonstrate how to make proxy files for your Fujifilm x-t3 in Premiere CC 2019. Proxy files will make your editing much easier, allowing your computer to playback the video material without any lag. :)

I bought the XT-3 since August, and i was like, oh i need to update my computer maybe getting something new like a Rtx2060 and a i5 10400, but I started looking for easy ways to workflow, and lucky I stop by this video, I wish i would learn about proxys when i had the Sonya7, and a olympus om em10 mark 3

I hope Fuji can include Pro Res Raw on future models. Or perhaps simultaneous proxy recording to memory card 2.

Thanks for the video. I am loving my XT3 images but having a devil of a time editing them in Premiere. I have a question. I'm new to proxies and using this method you've described has successfully created proxies from footage I recorded to an Atmos. But, when trying to create a proxy from footage I recorded in-camera I'm getting a black screen on the proxy clips. I can hear the audio, meaning that Premiere seems to be referencing the proxy file. But, the screen is just black. I tried multiple clips and even recording new test clips. I shot the footage in 4K 16x9 H265 All-Intra 400mbps. Is there something I'm missing that's causing the blacked out screen? As I said, the method worked beautifully for footage (ProRes) brought in via the Atmos. Perhaps there's a combination of Fuji settings that's causing it not to work? Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thx! :) Hmm that's weird. Can it have something to do with the h265 codec not installed properly? I'm not sure.. But since you made the proxy files with a different codec it should not be a problem. I have never encountered this problem before...

@ Thanks for getting back. I figured out the problem. Predictably... It was me :-). Adobe Media Encoder hadn't been updated with my other Adobe apps. So, I went and just made sure every CC app was updated and it seems to have fixed the problem. Now I'm using proxies for everything! Thank again.

Thanks for this. When it comes to exporting the files do you have to do anything to tell Premiere not to use the proxies for the export? Or will it know to use the original files on export?

It will automatically use the original files. :)

you explained what is it and working with proxy files were very clear ,thanks .subbed. one thing is confusing for me ; if I edit with lower resolution what is the point of recording 4k 30-60 fps?

You edit the files in lower resolution, but when exporting it uses the original 4K files. :)

Do you Know if the adobe suite from 2017 its able to do that¿ ... Im trying and I just discovered that somehow encoder just encode proxy with audio

Maybe you're missing some codecs? Try updating Adobe media encoder.

where should i import my videos. when i import them to iphoto my video freezes and does not play full video.

What computer do you have? I'm no expert on mac's though.. I Use a PC

What file size do you record your videos in? Codec etc.. h264 are easier for your computer to playback. Maybe you need to install some codecs for it to work. Or use another program for playback.

Try open them i Quicktime and see if that works :). Do you have Adobe Premiere?
