That looks amazing, well done! It seems so simple now that I've seen it, but I would have never thought of this.

Great stuff. I would have never guessed bark would look like a rock when painted.

I love this, I always found when using styrofoam I wasn't able to get a natural texture. This is genius! Thank you!

Nov. 16, 2019---Thanks for the video as I've never seen anyone actually using bark to simulate rocks. Used to make small dioramas using 28mm scale D&D figures 20+ years ago. While I used bark, I would cover the bark with liquid rubber and let dry. Then peel the rubber off and after making sure the molds weren't going to tip over, fill with plaster of paris. If you didn't want sharp ridges, simply sand them or scrape them with the back of an X-acto blade.

The rocks look great. Nice idea. The flock didn't look to realistic though. Natural grass would grow on all ledges and would be thinner.

@TheSeasonman1 what do you mean with back? do you mean bark? because if you do, i get it in the forest from rotten tree's with bark that is still good for making terrain. but maybe you could buy it in stores. by the way thanks for commenting
@donsgotmoney12 жыл бұрын
What a cool Idea, Im going to use this right away, thanks so much.

yes you can. but sometimes if it dry 's the moss will look ugly. I have 2 tips for you : P Tip 1 : Go to a flower store and ask if they have dry moss for sale. This moss will still have a nice color. And you get a cheap price for a lot of moss. If you have the moss cut it with a scissor until its thin. If its finished you have made your own cheap flock. = D Tip 2 : Go to my " how to make Miniature flock " video this is also a cheap and effective way to make flock.
@paintingismylife12 жыл бұрын
@bleushift Bark is boomschors, Flock is modelbouwgras, paint is verf, flat hard brush is een platte harde borstel ik hoop dat dit helpt

It is better results when you make the shape with a knife or similar sharp tool on stucco, and after you paint it. Try to use burnt unber instead of blue, and combine it while it was wet with black glace, etc
@SgtOddballz11 жыл бұрын
I really like this and plan to do this myself when i get time :).
@paintingismylife12 жыл бұрын
It does use a dry brush but its more then that. Dry brushing is taking paint and whiping of allot of paint on a piece of paper, and then lightly going over the detail like this | | | --> | | |

Just saw this video and it's amazing. Q: Is there a paint that will give you the same look, but is waterproof? Would like to apply this technique to create aquarium rock decor. I think as long as you find a safe paint for the fish, this would be perfect to try.

This and the wall video pretty much explain how to do it. But it just depends on the amount of paint you use and some other things to.. What i do in the video is give you the knowledge about replicating stone, But to get a very good result, you have to just do it a few times and practice on what works best. You can compare it with learning a song on a instrument. Hope this help's!! =D Arno.

@TheBadsanta1811 жыл бұрын
No need to use bark = try the pink insulation foam. It will snap off if you use the edge of any sharp knife and as it breaks at its own random shape, you get a fantastic texture like nature. Painting can be just like this video but easy on the dry brushing, this video has too much of it to look realistic. Sorry but thats my tip.
@paintingismylife11 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment! I used bark in this specific video but i also make things with foam.

@paintingismylife12 жыл бұрын
@tristanBOOMify If it works for you then thats great!! You can use whatever terrain you like. I have seen people who just used pieces of paper as terrain. Like a paper circle with tree on it. Whatever you and your oponent are happy with is perfectly fine! As long as it works in the game. Arno.
