That little 327 would run strong and yes rev high and he had 411 gears so i think it would have been in the 13's? You're 327 modern upgrades added an extra 100 hp so that will definitely be felt and seen in times and MPH. I had a 67 Camaro and dropped in a 427/425 so your little 327 bested that easily. Richard, do you remember Chevy used to sell late 60's/early 70's what they called ANGLE PLUG HEADS? Supposedly the idea was to use with at least 11 to 1 comp. or more and helped with flame travel over such huge piston domes? Do you know if they ever worked better that the straight plug 202's?

I had one in my 76 Skylark sedan and it only had 34k miles on it with a Rochester 2bbl and even when it was in the negatives with a foot of snow on the car, you'd pump the gas twice, turn the key, and it would fire up on the 2nd rotation. That was one of my most reliable cars that I've ever owned and it was given to me. I could get it up to 80 on the Turnpike and it would just cruise. It took a while to get to 80, but it'd do it. It does know at this exact moment I can do this with that. More fuel = more power, if the airflow is better, more power, if the exhaust is better more power, if ignition can ignite the fuel at that moment in time, it will continue to run near peak potential ect. Personally, I've grown up with month after month year after year seeing nothing but Chevy articles. It got to the point of what can you learn continuing to read the same stuff over and over. I guess it's the no brains syndrome these later generations past the 60's have. Everything is easy for everyone. It's called 1-800-send me one. But it won't change ever. The difference really, what you're made of. No effort, or be a thinking man. A real challenge is out running them. A lot of work but that's the way the old guys did everything. It was really fun to be successful with using your brain. Don't need to today. BIg WHOP.

I had a 1987 305 h.o roller cam and my memory might be off a lil but i do remember it having about 320 horsepower stock out the factory. I did purchas a 480/ 480 230duration cam from comp cam set of lifters to match the cam also comp brand... 2 1/2 inch long tube trick flow , 680cc holler carb Msd high voltage Distributor...25 percent high volume oil pump and a Holly fuel pump 20%more fuel flow . We got 365 hp on the dyno. Could have squeezed more out of her . One of my regrets 😔 never got to turbo her. Would have been interesting to see her over 400 hp... oh yea my block also cam with the 58cc chamber heads . Don't know if that would have made any difference.

@@jimcatanzaro7808 It really depends on how much you bore out the cylinders . Rich, great video as always!!! I have a 69 big journal 327 that is in my 81 Camaro. It was a mild build with stock heads and a 650cfm Holley. Would love to duplicate this build of the 327. What heads are these exactly? A quick Google search came up with 033-1172 at Jegs but no corresponding number on the AFR website. I assume these are far better than a Vortec style head, but is there any comparison to these heads and the cheap Chinese ones?
