While i like blender's own screw/nut/bolt addon, i don't know why but i hate the feeling of it not having full clean quad topology and while it's easier to create and adjust, it just feels bulky for some reason. Maybe because I'm stupid or maybe because I'm used to creating everything manually in blender. Good video. This is what I've been searching for.

I personally prefer doing things manually as well because of the freedom. I haven't tried the add-on, I'll give it a go.

Great video as always. Few things you can do when ripping the face you cam just press Y without deselecting any edge and instead of ripping you can use weighted normals.
