In this video I show how to make silver oxide (Ag2O) from silver metal.

the silver nitrate solution can also be used as an electrolyte in a silver crystal cell, if you ever want your silver back in metalic form.

yep!

Or just add copper wire to the solution to bring out metallic Silver

A nice demo. I make all my own HNO3 because it's too expensive to buy so I'd have distilled that left over HNO3 to recover the acid and more AgNO3. But that's just me. 🙂

I make my own HNO3 because in the libtard EU it's forbidden. 😀

If you suck the brown nitric fumes through a gas washing bottle, you can also get back the nitric that is lost in the air otherwise... (I use 3 in row.) but don't tell anyone!

Thanks. Yeah I make my own nitric with a birkeland eyde generator - check out one of my older videos about that :-)

What other things are highly sensitive to reversible photo redox reactions that you can think of?
@PoorMansChemist Жыл бұрын
Many thallium(I) salts are photosensitive and will discolor like silver salts only they do it a little more slowly. I still am careful to keep my thallium(I) halides out of sunlight.

@@PoorMansChemist Im thinking something less expensive or toxic, like something I wouldn't mind on the window sill *above* my kitchen sink instead of under the sink with the cyanide...
@kevinlcarlson Жыл бұрын
Early photographs were made using the daguerrotype or cyanotype process
@petevenuti7355 Жыл бұрын
@@kevinlcarlsonI thought of that and uranotypes as well. The thing is my goal is thinking of components for part of an organic battery , part organic at least.. The different oxidation states are there, but the cyanide complex is so stable I'm not sure how reversible it would be for recharging.

What are you planning to use the Silver Oxide for? Good video.
@andreasthealchemist9446 Жыл бұрын
I want to fuse it with sodium metal - going to explain this in another video

I like to refer to silver oxide as oxygen argentide, it's more accurate and confuses lots of people!!! 😁😁😁
