Great tutorial, thanks! I'd love to see more basing tutorials in this style - winter, ruined city, volcanic, etc.

Oh the resin and grime mix is very helpful! Inks can also work pretty well!

Really cool base, I love it! It looks difficult to do without an airbrush to be honest, but thanks for giving a few tips in that direction.

Thanks Eric, it is do-able without the airbrush but will take you a bit longer and won't be quite so easy to blend. A bit of work with a decent stippling brush will do the trick though!

I’ve always wondered about the UV resin. You make it look pretty straightforward! Think I’ll give it a go

The UV resin is probably the easiest resin product I've used. I'm not a huge fan of the two part ones although they are considerably cheaper!

take a look at an art store, sandy paste or crackling paste are often cheaper and without colour

Hey Rich. This is awesome work. What would you recommend if you'd want to make it look "slightly colder". Not exactly snow, just...lightly frosted? I was looking to make a sort of frozen wasteland without all the tacky ice and snow effects commonly seen.
@SprayBlackStudios
@SprayBlackStudios 2 жыл бұрын
So firstly I'd change the colour palette and go for more of a subtle blue tone than the green and browns in this one. Then personally I'd throw in a tiny bit of ice and snow just to add some contrast and really make it pop. To be honest, thinking about it I may even do a test base myself!

Thx for the tutorial. I have a question abaut liquitex ink if you have time to answer it. Been using it for a few days (just 4 or 5 times) and i have real trobles whit the ink reactivating whit the next layer of paint. I use vallejo acrilic paints and never had this issue before whit any of em products. Do you have an idea of why the ink could be reactivating? (and i let it dry for abaut an hour some times, the unic diference whit this tutorial is that i aplyed whit brush instead of airbrush)
@SprayBlackStudios
@SprayBlackStudios 2 жыл бұрын
Apologies for the delay, this is very interesting! I can't say I have had issues with it reactivating before but due to the fact that it's not particularly hard wearing I have found often that when using washes it's pretty easy to remove it. A coat of Varnish would likely give a decent buffer to protect it.

@@SprayBlackStudios ty for the advice. I begined a couple of days ago to make a mix on airbrush whit every 4 paint 1 thinner 1 flow 1 mat varnish and that solved all the issue removing the layer of ink latter. So the varnish make sense to me too. Will test it on brush too
